It allows us to choose the JXR files now. Hurray! Except for that the picture is displayed in its SDR container!!!!!!!! And not HDR...

Come on... you got to be kidding me after waiting 1.5 year....
Anyone else experienced this as well?

Most of us do not run the insider builds. You might get more response by posting your 24h2 issues in the Windows Insider section of the forum.

I got it to work! for some images atleast...
i set my resolution to 2560x1440p. and took screenshots with geforce experience+ gamebar All screenshots work like expected! The problem is my 7680x2160p resolution!!! or file size, or number of pixels or aspect ratio.... Damn microsoft!
Why doesn't work like you expect with my 32:9 samsung g9 neo :(

One thing i should add as well, is that the SDR---> HDR slider is working on my background, whenever i set a HDR background i made myself using my 32:9 7680x2160p res. Which means it is not in its native HDR container.Whenever I use an HDR screenshot that is 16:9 and 4k resolution, then the SDR ---> HDR slider is not doing anything to the background, because it's active in it's native HDR container....

I found the solution/workaround for now...

1. Set your correct working hdr background meaning a 16:9 4k screenshot or something
2. Go to C:\Users\user\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Themes
3. You should see 2 files TranscodedWallpaper, TranscodedWallpaper_HDR_00720 (unless it has different numbers for you)
4. Take your 32:9 HDR screenshot file and rename it to TranscodedWallpaper_HDR_00720
5. Set your 32:9 HDR screenshot as background using the usual windows background selector
6. Now replace that transcoded wallpaper file with the one you created using your 32:9 picture.
7. Reboot/relog? i rebooted. and the next time i logged in it seemed to work! SDR/HDR slider has no affect on my windows background. Also taking a normal screenshot without gamebar/experience, results in a cracked screenshot like it should on hdr content.

Enjoy your 32:9 HDR screenshots!
