Hey all, So, for a long while EA have been forcing the EA play app and thus discontinued the beloved origin, I have no issue using the ea play app..if only it would install.
EA have been unsurprisingly absolutely useless, So im coming to you guys.
So basically when you install the app it gets to the end and then brings up an error code relevant to ea INST-14-1603 if anyone cares.
Looking into windows, the code it throws is BEX64. Any thoughts?
This has been an issue from before the change from origin to ea play was forced, Wasnt a big deal til it was. So around a year now, Thus said, I've actually re-installed windows once since then but same result afterwards. Ive tried in safe mode to no avail as its an online download through the exe installer and i dont have a cable long enough sadly, Firewall and av etc has all been disabled(Firewall for this purpose today) to make sure nothings stopping it. I've disabled all xbox related stuff whilst i try to install based on what ive found online, Re install all the redistributable's as well. Gpu drivers up to date. Disabled razer software incase of conflict.
Im genuinely at a loss for this one, Any help would be much appreciated and happy to follow any instructions that may be useful.
Cheers all

If you are unable to install or reinstall EA Desktop, here is a list of possible workarounds for this problem:
Try this in order. (Make sure Origin is not running!)
  1. Run the EA Desktop installer as Administrator.
Right click the "EADesktopInstaller.exe" > Run as Administrator.

  2. Use the MSI installer:
    • Press the Windows key and R at the same time.
    • Type or copy and paste %PROGRAMDATA% into the new window > Hit ENTER.
    • Type or copy and paste EA Desktop into the Windows Explorer search bar > Hit ENTER
    EA Desk1.png
    • Double click the EADesktop-xx.x.xxx.xxxx-xxx.msi (The numbers may vary.)
    • The MSI installer will give you three options > choose “remove”.
(If you never installed or attempted to install EA Desktop before, just try to install.)
    - After the process is finished, you should be able to install with the normal installer or the *.msi.

  3. Use the Microsoft tool to fix problems that block programs from being installed or removed.
You can find the tool and a guide here.

  4. If you have a Windows user name with special characters in it:
    Either:
create an new Windows user account with only ASCII characters in it. > Reboot > Log on to the new account > Test.
    Or:
Press the Windows key and "R" at the same time.
Type or copy and paste "control" into the new window. (Without the quotes) > Hit ENTER.
Choose "Region" > Administrative Tools > Change Locale > Check "Beta: Use Unicode UTF-8 for worldwide language support" > klick "OK"
    Reboot > Test.

  5. If the installer hangs and crashes at 99% or similar.
Press the Windows key and i > Apps (Left bar) > Installed Apps > Scroll down to Microsoft Visual C++
At "Microsoft Visual C++ 2013 Redistributable" > click on the three dots > Modify > Confirm > Repair.
At "Microsoft Visual C++ 2015-2022 Redistributable" > click on the three dots > Modify > Confirm > Repair.
    Restart the PC > Test.

Did you try the suggestion of making a new user account?Running the install as admin? If worse comes to worse, you could try it in a windows 10 VM.
Sorry I haven't been able to provide more help. Maybe one of the real gamers here will have more ideas. Good luck.

i had this issue and tried everything to no avail, so gave up. Today i tried installing bluestacks to play a mobile game, and it had an issue installing due to Hyper V settings (no clue what that is). It had a diagnostic tool which i ran to fix this, and it let me install bluestacks. figured I would try EA again, and it worked straight away after doing the bluestacks diagnostic tool
