Solved Battery Usage isn't tracked in the Settings app

When I view the Power & battery page in the Settings app of Windows 11 all the battery usage metrics report 0% and no apps are reported using the battery. Does anyone know why this is? I've only had the laptop plugged in pretty much the whole time, but on another one running the same version of Windows 11 there isn't such problem and the usage meter works regardless.
Thanks for any help in advance.

Welcome to Eleven Forum.

Open Device Manager and look at Batteries. For Windows to be able to show the battery statistics in Settings you need both the MS adapter and battery devices installed and working. If there is a yellow waning against one or both, or they appear OK but Settings still doesn't work, then right-click on each and uninstall them. Then use 'Action > Scan for hardware changes' to reinstall them.

fully 'Windows 11 ready' laptop. Windows 10 C: partition migrated from my old unsupported 'main machine' then upgraded to 11. A test migration ran Insider builds for 2 months. When 11 was released on 5th October 2021 it was re-imaged back to 10 and was offered the upgrade in Windows Update on 20th October. Windows Update offered the 22H2 Feature Update on 20th September 2022. It got the 23H2 Feature Update on 4th November 2023 through Windows Update, 24H2 on 3rd October 2024 through Windows Update by setting the Target Release Version for 24H2, and 25H2 on 30th September 2025 through Windows Update by setting the Target Release Version for 25H2.

UPDATE - 11 April 2026: due to mechanical deterioration this PC has been retired from active duty. The OS with all software and files has been migrated to my System Seven in 'Other systems' to carry on as my general purpose 'main machine'.

I've now clean installed 25H2 and used Garlin's scripts to update Secure Boot to CA 2023 and revoke the PCA 2011 certificates. It's new role is to test secure boot issues.

This is what it looks like on the other laptop, even tho it's plugged in it still shows the percentage of the battery as well as the app usage and other stats. For me it shows literally nothing like if it wasn't tracking anything at all for some reason.

Ok, I've done that. No changes are immediately noticeable but those might reflect later after a few hours of usage when it can get those statistics, I can try also using the laptop unplugged to see if that kicks it in or something. Anyways don't you know about anything else repsonsible for tracking of the battery usage? Maybe some program messed with the registry or something like that and broke it, I've used Win10Privacy before and it could be related, however I've used that program on the other laptop before too with a very similar configuration and it works just fine.

Yeah, it's clear that something isn't right with my laptop so I'll hopefully figure that out soon.

Turns out it was something in Performance Monitor that I have previously disabled, somewhere in the Data Collector Sets > Startup Event Trace Sessions, probably DiagLog, but I can't say for sure as there were more that I turned on.

That worked for me too, though It wasn't DiagLog, as I already had that enabled.
