Hello,
I want to copy files from my computer File Explorer to my mobile phone (Samsung S20) while preserving the original timestamp.
I know that Robocopy is able to do it, except that it does not recognize my S20 mobile (Properties: "This PC\S20 Ultra MyName\SD Card\Apps\")
Is there a utility for that
Regards

I've not found file dates/times to be changed when copied from drive to drive but the Folder dates do become the current date displayed by the device. The issue with Windows appears to be that a new Folder is first created with that device's date then the files copied into it. Same for moving but the old folder is deleted after being emptied.

When I have need to have the old Folder dates in the new location I use one of the free or paid third-party file managers such as Total Commander, FreeCommander, MultiCommander, etc., to change the Folder's Attributes for the date and time.

I don't have an installed program on the Notebook I'm on but do have the Portable Multi Commander. In Total Commander look under File, Change attributes. Just click a Folder name to highlight it, turn red then click File. I have Total Commander on my main Desktop, this is the Portable Multi Commander I have but the same things are just listed different such as under Tools :

I want to copy file dated 2019 from my desktop to my mobile. The result is that the file on the mobile have the today date.
I want to keep the 2019 date on the mobile same as the original file on the desktop.

You should be able to preserve the original timestamp by moving the file inside a zip/7z/rar etc then extracting it on the destination

If I copy files from my PC to my Android Phone (Google Pixel 6) the Date Modified is not affected. If the file was last modified in 2019 on the PC, that's also what it shows in Android. Can you show a screenshot of the issue?

Tested same problem: The result is that the file on the mobile have the today date.
Did you really tested copying from PC to mobile?

@hdmi: I've tested Fastcopy... It recognise mobile as source but unable to select any, the mobile not recognized as destination

I tested also OneCommander, MultiCommander -> not recognize the mobile
I tested XYplorer it recognize the mobile but the any operation allowed. The portable devices (mobile) are treated as read-only.

Any suggestions?
Regards

I still can't reproduce the problem. I can see that you're using an SD card. How is it formatted? FAT? FAT32? ExFAT? Did you transfer the files by inserting the SD card into the PC, connecting the phone with a USB cable, or doing a wireless transfer? What program are you using on the phone to show that file list?

Ahh yea, it's because the phone uses MTP (Media Transfer Protocol), which you can use in File Transfer mode to access the SD Card through the phone's USB port the same way you can access the phone's internal storage also with it.

The solution suggested by @BobOmb in post #6 should work, but there's a possible catch, as you'd be writing the archive to the SD Card or the phone's internal storage and also be writing the archive's contents to the SD Card i.e. by extracting the archive as the next step which takes additional time, requires additional free available storage space on the phone's internal flash storage or SD Card to be able to be achieved, and causes additional wear on the flash memory cells due to having to write more data of course. So, I probably wouldn't recommend doing this too frequently with large amounts of data the whole time. If that's also your concern, an alternative solution you could try is this: How do I access MTP devices on the command line in Windows?
One user commented that it has a serious bug that could potentially result in data loss. Moving files is done by copying them before they are deleted from the source. So, if they are deleted after the copying has failed, you lose the data. But you can avoid moving files, as you can choose to just copy instead and verify that the copying was error-free before you manually choose to delete from the source. It also is why people should make reliable backups of all their important data anyway in the first place... to prevent data loss.

FastCopy also gives various options to use file verification, to store hash codes of files in the logfile for later use/re-use, and to log errors on a per-file basis with full UNICODE support inside the logfile itself also. This is in (very) shrill contrast with ROBOCOPY.

@ hdmi: You are RIGHT.
Syncing between C drive and phone: Finally, this is not possible.

However, a few years ago under Win10 I managed to transfer files from the PC to my mobile via FTP and, best of all, I preserved the Timestamp.
Mobile side: I launched Cx Explorer, I selected network / Start and the mobile app showed me the ftp address, username and the pass
PC side: I launched Total Commander, select Network / FTP new connection and I applied the address, username and pass provided by Cx Explorer (mobile)... and that's it.

I tried the same thing today, I could connect the PC to the mobile but it was impossible to transfer anything.

I finally used the old method via zip.
Regards

I still don't understand why the Date modified is being changed. I tested several Android phones, including a Samsung, by connecting via USB cable and just using Explorer to drag the files to the phone. All phones were connected via MTP/PTP. The Last modified date was the same on source and target.
