dll files

Brand new Lenovo laptop, OS Window11. Installed Paint Shop Pro X5 but cannot get most plugins to work. In older versions of the program there were additional dll files that needed to be added to the operating system. Is the same true of Windows 11 - and if so, which dll's? Thanks for any assistance!!!

Thanks.....PSP 15 works on Windows 11....it's just some plugins don't seem to want to work! they worked with Windows 10 so not sure why they won't work in 11...

You should get an error message which tells you... which .dll (s)


I have no way of testing without having PSP X5... but a lot of older programs need these to work...

To post a screenshot on this forum...​

1. Take the screenshot, edit it as desired, save to your desktop as .png or .jpg (max. size = 2MB)
2. Left click in your post, where you want to place the screenshot.
3. Click the Attach Files button at lower left, browse to your pic and click Insert.
4. After clicking Insert, I usually choose the Thumbnail (smaller) option, or the Full Image (larger) option.

If the "new" PrtSc key function is not to your liking... here is how to set it back to it's classic function...

Well, those aren't "just" .dll files.

But as I mentioned... sometimes they do the trick for old programs.
They may have some .dll files within... I don't know.

But, when dealing with older programs... you should always install ALL the latest Visual C++ runtimes.
Your plugins might still not work... but it won't be because of these.

Here's some other things that may help...

Now that you got it working... we'll expect to see a great avatar and signature... soon.



And... as I mentioned above... those are not .dll files. They are Visual C++ Runtimes.
They are just executable files. There may be .dll files inside the executables... or they may "call" the correct .dll files?
In many cases, they solve problems with older software.

I use older software and I play really old games.
Many didn't work properly or at all, without the Visual C++ Runtimes.

Actually I had a zip file of old dll files to make older versions of Paint Shop Pro work with newer operating systems. It was those I added to Windows 11 and that did the trick. I had been hesitant to use them with a new computer until I realized from our thread that perhaps that was the way to go - and another PSP user told me she had done the same - so I went ahead. Next new computer I'll probably have to upgrade the Corel PSP program....but the version I have is like an old friend...I hate to leave it!
