This tutorial will show you how to enable or disable automatically open Microsoft Edge when you sign into Windows 10 or Windows 11.

The Microsoft Edge web browser is based on Chromium and was released on January 15, 2020. It is compatible with all supported versions of Windows, and macOS. With speed, performance, best in class compatibility for websites and extensions, and built-in privacy and security features.

Starting with Microsoft Edge version 121.0.2237.0 (Canary), you can have Microsoft Edge automatically open for you every time you sign in after your device starts, so you can get to browsing faster.

Here's How:

1 Open Microsoft Edge.

2 Click/tap on the Settings and more (3 dots) button (Alt+F), and click/tap on Settings. (see screenshot below)

Microsoft_Edge_Settings.png

3 Click/tap on Start, home, and new tabs in the left pane. (see screenshot below step 4)

If you do not see a left pane, then either click/tap on the 3 bars menu button towards the top left OR widen the horizontal borders of the Microsoft Edge window until you do.

4 Under When your Windows device starts, turn on (default) or off Automatically opens Microsoft Edge when you sign into Windows for what you want. (see screenshot below)

Automaitcally_open_Microsoft_Edge_when_you_sign_into_Windows.png

5 You can now close the Settings tab or Microsoft Edge if you like.

That's it,
Shawn Brink

Today I wanted to access Edge Settings and when clicking on the 3 dots I got a page headed Settings but all the options I am used to getting (as in your screenshots above) are hidden. It is now additionally necessary to click on the 3 bars next to my name to open op the left side pane.
And, the setting When your Windows device starts isn't there at all.

This setting should hopefully reach the public (stable) build soon.

I guess I don't have tweetiepie as that setting is not visible, so I am hopeful that the Insider malware never managed to get onto my new Win11 install!
But is there anywhere I can check to make sure its not here? The Update link to Insider does have a note about joining it but nothing definite as to whether or not it has already sneaked in.

You can open Settings > About Microsoft Edge in Microsoft Edge to see which channel and version you have. Usually you'll see the icon below with "CAN" on it if it's in the Canary channel.

Good - that clears everything up. The changes to your expanation, that in its original was confusing me, make it clearer now.
That new setting will be useful when it comes.

In the mantime I will just pin Edge to taskbar which at least makes it easier to find. I find having the bar centred is a good idea.
