File Explorer Revert

Is it possible to get the file explorer the way it was before the update that was just post out?

+1 for this. It's so annoying that they've changed to a simplified ribbon, the least they could do is give the user a choice.

One of the things I used most was a single click to automatically resize all columns to fit. Is there a way to do this in the simplified version? I can't for the life of me find it.

Not really, my issue is the same, I'd like to have explorer the way it was with the old style ribbon.

Not really a solution, but there is a hack for it ....

Open Control Panel, click the up arrow twice and voila, explorer with ribbon.

Yahbut, that only works while File Explorer is open. Close it, re-open it, and the "command bar" is back.

Shawn,

Any chance we could get you to work on a solution? The ribbon is clearly still present, as seen when I use Esraeros' "hack" from #7 above, but the old reg hack doesn't work any more.

Everywhere I look, when it comes to Windows 11, people are bashing their heads against walls trying to reinstate functionality that they already had in Windows 10. It seems to me that Microsoft is trying to make Windows 11 into an operating system for novices. But the fact is, the majority of Windows users have been using their operating system for many years and decades. I can only assume that Microsoft is trying to introduce new users by dumbing it right down.

So, for me, all my computers except one will be staying with Windows 10 for the foreseeable future.
Why waste precious time looking for ways to circumvent Microsoft's dumbing down when you already have a perfectly good and fully featured operating system in Windows 10?

Windows 11 is the only Windows version that I've ever hesitated upgrading to. I've always been an early adopter of the next iteration of Windows. But Windows 11 just doesn't make any sense to me.

1) Most of the changes are superficial and do not take long to get used to.

2) Windows 11 is getting new features (albeit slowly).

I prefer to have an OS that is being developed than one that is stagnant.

Does the squashing happen with the patch Tuesday updates, or do you think we'll have to actually have to DO something to get the squash? Thoughts?

It'll most likely get corrected in a future update, but we shall see.
