Hardware that has...

1. Survived above and beyond.
2. Done more than the manufacturer promised.
3. Done things the manufacturer, never intended.

It doesn't necessarily have to be computer hardware. I want to see pics of any hardware... toasters, cars, wrenches, phones, baby carriages, picnic tables, etc., that has gone above and beyond.

I bought both of these keyboards in early 2013. A Ducky Shine 2 and a Ducky Shine 3 (for a spare).
I've abused the Shine 2 for ten years and finally had to break out the Shine 3.
I also ordered new key-caps for the Shine 2. Because other than the worn key-caps, it still works flawlessly.


These keyboards are actually the exact same size...






Now let's see some other heroic hardware pics.

I just remembered another piece of heroic hardware. My Microsoft Side Winder Precision 2 Joystick.
I purchased this in 2003, and have abused it continually for... 20 years.
It also, still works flawlessly.

Probably the only hardware Microsoft ever made that has staying power.

C'mon folks. You tellin' me no one has a Nokia phone story or the like?

Does this count? I'm still using it as a fact, it's the only one I own

This was the first celly I ever had. Got it through Cricket in 2003...




I think it still works. I probably still have it in a box somewhere.

Oh, you want to go old. My first mobile was a car phone provided by the company I worked for.
Obviously, I don't have it as I didn't really own it nor did I own the Ford I was assigned but, it
did the work.

I never "had" any cell phone before the Nokia... but I was definitely around then.
I remember the 1st cell phones. They were like large walkie-talkies, and cost a fortune.

I remember that most of us were complaining of interference when on the road.
One of the engineers must of heard us because a few days latter one of them
came with some kind of contraption. He said it was a RF filter. He plugged it in
one of the cars and all of sudden , no more lights and we could even start the car.
I couldn't help but laugh and said, how are you going to explain this. He just
shrugged his shoulders and walked off. One of the guys was now out of a car.
The office was not impressed to say the least.

Yeah... that was the first portable cell phone I remember.

Do you have one now?
I still use the one I posted and the only I have but, as we all know, 3G is out in the States
but, still is viable in Canada but I suspect not for long. I keep getting dropped lines and I
suspect that the cell companies are trying Really hard to get us to drop our old phones.
I was looking at the new Motorola Razor Plus. It seems a like a good phone. I will not
buy iPhones or Samsung.

No... I'm pretty sure I still have the original Nokia in a box somewhere.
The Nokia was the first one I "owned".

Before that I just had house phones.
