Every time I buy a new SSD or HDD, sooner or later it starts giving me CRC errors.

What causes it & how damaging is it to data stored in it ?

I am not an expert on reading the SSD reports so I am posting few pics.

Let me know if I need to post more pics of tabs in these utilities.

The first thing you need to do is get an up-to-date version of CrystalDiskInfo... they're up to version 9.3.2

As for the CRC Error Count... I believe that points to a SATA cable issue.
Either not connected fully, dirty, or the cable itself.

You can get C7 interface CRC Errors caused by miss communication due to cable errors. From the readings I have seen, 2 as compared to 9 to 10k is low.

No I am saying that 2 compared to that number is most likely negligible.
“Apparently” communications issues between the drive and the controller can contribute to these errors. Hence mentioning the cable. It’s apparently the most common cause.
I see that the error scan image is all green and good to go?

The ZIP version is the "portable" version. That's the version I use.


On this page, get the ZIP version of the Standard Edition...
