Hey guys:-)

I wanted to ask that if there is a way to download apps from Insider channels without joining the program?
Is there a site to store these apps? (something like apkmirror for android apps)

For example, I want to download latest version of MS Paint in Canary channel but I couldn't find a place to get it.
I found an older version (11.2304.17.0) but it doesn't have centered canvas.

Insider and Preview versions of Store apps may be found on Microsoft Store - Generation Project (v1.2.3) [by @rgadguard & mkuba50]

1. Under the first field, select PackageFamilyName
2. Enter Microsoft.MSPaint_8wekyb3d8bbwe in the second box.
3. Select Fast in the last field.

Click the ✓ symbol to search the database.

1692506117671.png

On the search results page, look for the last link that resembles:
Microsoft.Paint_11.2306.23.0_neutral_~_8wekyb3d8bbwe.msixbundle

The version number will always vary, but look for [Year] 2023 or 23. Older versions won't follow the [Year] naming scheme.
And the file must be followed by extension .appxbundle or .msixbundle.

Download the file. Click on it in Explorer to install. Whether an Appx package works on a different Windows release is unknown, but more often than not -- they will run. Some features might be broken if they're expecting OS support.

Sorry, wrong copy/paste from my apps list.

Paint 3D = Microsoft.MSPaint_8wekyb3d8bbwe

I tried it with Fast and I found the new update
I couldn't find it with RP
What's the difference between those?

This question is about "borrowing" Apps from the Preview build.

If you want to try the 23H2 Preview, you need to download an unofficial ISO, and perform an upgrade to keep your existing files and programs. Your PC might not meet eligibility requirements unless it was purchased within the last 3 years.

Please check if these instructions are too difficult for you to follow:

For those who haven't done a successful Windows upgrade from ISO, it might be safer to wait until 23H2 is released in Oct./Nov.
As always if you care about your files, make a full system backup before trying the update.

I'm grateful for this information and advise. However, I was at the UUPdump page attempting to get the ISO created, and got lost with that Aria 2.0 download. On second thought, I do believe I shant fret this one any longer and await the release date. I keep my laptop backed up regularly, so no worries there. According to what I've read regarding eligibility requirements, this Asus Tuf A 17 will be able to run the 23H2 programme.
Thank you again for your time and assistance.

UUP dump's script is self-contained and will download all the tools it needs (including Aria2, which is a faster download app). One thing is you might do is temporarily disable any anti-virus protection. There's a lot of privileged apps creating a ton of files in a short time period which makes your AV think it's all suspicious activity.

Otherwise, you're not required to do anything special and the script will use default settings.

I shall be looking into all this Intel that you have shared with me; it is quite the lot for attending to. However, at this point, I do have a few simple questions to ask of you.
First: what is the difference between the 22621.2213 and the 23526.1000 releases?? My OS is Win 11 Home and I plan on upgrading to Win 11 Pro very soon.
Second: The AMD64 and the ARM64 aspect is rather confusing at the moment. Should I download the AMD64 as I have an AMD CPU here??

Let me get on with all this and see what mayhem I can generate within the land of cyberspace... As always, I'm rather grateful for your assistance and also to those which have left these insights for all to be guided by.

The Insider Preview channel.

If you look at my screenshot again, You'll notice they always have a word or two after the word Insider:

  • Canary
  • Dev
  • Beta
  • Release Preview
Those are the 4 channels of Insider Builds. You can read more about them in this tutorial:

In that one are links to official Microsoft documents explaining in more detail what flighting is, as well as links to register for Insider builds, and more.
