I also have a PC based server with multiple TB of storage acting as a media server and a couple of laptops. All use W11. data backup is via Drive Pool.
It is a fake.
This is a genuine unusual sign-in activity email I received only last month.
I have checked back two years and the format of such MS emails has not differed from this example.
MS Verify your account email.png
  • Yours refers to "sign.in" not "sign-in".
  • Yours does not come from the Microsoft domain.
  • Yours claims "high importance".

The domain of the sender kind of gives it away as a fake (accounts-security.com). Also, I don't think I've ever seen sign-in expressed as "sign.in". Weird spelling and grammar errors are a good sign that it's spam or worse.

It's a phishing scamthat has been going around for almost 2 years. I have gotten the same exact message several times. You can always go to your MS account and see the locations of where your account has been logged into if you have doubts.

Definitely phony. One giveaway: signin as one word at the top, and sign.in in the body. Neither is right. It's sign in (two words) as a verb, and sign-in (hyphenated) as an adjective.

It's a good idea to black out your true email address in screenshots. You can do that now by clicking Edit Post, then delete the screenshot, and then add a new version with you address covered.

You still need to go back to your original post & click on the dustbin at the bottom to remove your original diagram.

This is what we see and we can open it.
deleted but not dustbinned diagram.png
Only you see the dustbin icon on it that allows you to remove that 'deleted' original diagram completely.

Yes.

Britgeezer - This double-delete scheme applies to TenForums as well as ElevenForum.

All the best,
Denis

Welcome to ElevenForum.

It's really worth making time to browse through the ElevenForums Tutorial index - there's a shortcut to it at the top of every ElevenForum page [within the Tutorials dropdown list].
- At the foot of the ElevenForum Tutorial index is a shortcut to download it as a spreadsheet.
- I download a new copy each month.
- By downloading it as a spreadsheet I can benefit from Excel's excellent filtering capabilities when I search for topics of interest.
- ElevenForum tutorials are also listed at Tutorials - there's a shortcut to that at the top of every page.

You can search ElevenForum using the search box in the top-right corner of all ElevenForum webpages or using Advanced Search - ElevenForum
- You can also search ElevenForum threads in many general search engines, such as Google, by adding site:elevenforum.com after your search term. For example,
Taskbar setup site:elevenforum.com
- [This is what the search box in the top-right corner of ElevenForum webpages does automatically]

The screenshot in the OP's message is now the genuine security message provided by Denis, which is pretty darn confusing for someone seeing the conversation now. For the sake of those with a similar query, can the original fake (but redacted) message please be restored?

Thanks for that. I was very confused as the two messages are identical, right down to date/time.
