Microsoft Delivering Copilot for everyone

  • Staff

 Official Microsoft Blog:

As we approach Super Bowl weekend, we’re thrilled to be a part of the festivities for the first time in four years. This year, we’re proud to celebrate the transformative power of AI and Microsoft Copilot, showcasing peoples’ “watch me” moments with Copilot enabling people to do things previously unattainable. With a simple sentence or two, you will see a budding entrepreneur turn a fledgling idea for a new product into an actionable business plan, a filmmaker’s concept into a rich set of storyboards, and a fantasy football player’s team come to life with a mascot image they can edit inline.

Coincident with the launch of our Super Bowl ad, we are also launching a significant new update to our Microsoft Copilot experience on copilot.microsoft.com and our Copilot app on iOS and Android app stores. Today when you visit Copilot, you will see a more streamlined look and feel designed to help you bring your ideas to life and more easily gain understanding about the world. We have introduced a cleaner, sleeker look and feel for answers and a fun new carousel of suggested prompts to showcase the power of Copilot.

Today marks exactly one year since our entry into AI-powered experiences for people with Bing Chat. In that year we have learned so many new things and seen the use of our Copilot experiences explode with over 5 billion chats and 5 billion images created to date which have led to sustained growth in Edge and Bing share. Now with Copilot as our singular experience for people looking to get more out of AI creation, we are today introducing further image creation capabilities.

With Designer in Copilot, you can go beyond just creating images to now customize your generated images with inline editing right inside Copilot1, keeping you in the flow of your chat. Whether you want to highlight an object to make it pop with enhanced color, blur the background of your image to make your subject shine, or even reimagine your image with a different effect like pixel art,2 Copilot has you covered, all for free. If you’re a Copilot Pro subscriber, in addition to the above, you can also now easily resize and regenerate images between square and landscape without leaving chat. Lastly, we will soon roll out our new Designer GPT inside Copilot, which offers an immersive, dedicated canvas inside of Copilot where you can visualize your ideas.

Copilot is free to use and works on Microsoft Edge, Chrome, Firefox and Safari. Or download the Copilot mobile app on iOS or Android.

AI is the defining technology of our time. Microsoft’s advancements in AI align with our company mission to empower every person and organization on the planet to achieve more. With Copilot, we’re democratizing our breakthroughs in AI to help make the promise of AI real for everyone.

Wow, MS has consolidated the online Copilot (y)

I asked the online Copilot for Zarathustra, but he looks like Moses to me LOL

I would happily tell Brandon and Amanda what I think of CoPilot and what they could do with it if they were willing to listen but I cannot post my views here as I would get banned.

I have it on my work pc and cannot nuke it due to policy restrictions, and it is so invasive.

In what way is Copilot invasive? On my machines, Copilot needs to be invoked, it does nothing on its own.

In what way is Copilot invasive? On my machines, Copilot needs to be invoked, it does nothing on its own.

Not the person you replied to but I just restarted W11 and I was greeted with a "foreign" icon that led me to think my computer was compromised.
Didn't want to click on it, hovered over it and it says copilot which I had no clue what it referred to, the logo is also unfamiliar to me, and no MS or mention anywhere.
Had to go online to find out what it was and that it was safe. Not a huge deal but gave me a good scare, I have sensitive data on this computer and for a few seconds, I genuinely thought I was completely screwed.

I think when you say invasive you are referring to it in the context of day-to-day usage. In this instance, I would have also used the word invasive in but more in terms of how it was installed without my knowledge.

Also, usually, when big updates are rolled out we are welcomed with a screen that highlights new features upon rebooting but nothing this time. There was just a new icon on my taskbar.

Speaking of which, is it normal my icon says "PRE"? What does that stand for?

@Sephirote relax and rejoice, you just got a surprise Godsend (y) Yes, your icon is normal and PRE stands for preview, because Copilot is still being improved upon.

Copilot is an AI-powered tool developed by Microsoft that assists users in various contexts. Let me provide you with details about the different versions of Copilot:
  1. Windows 11 Copilot (Preview):
    • As of September 2023, a significant Windows 11 update introduced Copilot to all Windows 11 users, not just those in the Windows Insider Program.
    • While Copilot is now available to everyone, Microsoft still labels it as a preview. This means that it’s actively being improved based on user feedback.
    • Copilot is essentially an evolution of Microsoft’s Bing with ChatGPT technology, designed to assist users in controlling Windows 11 tasks.
    • Expect Copilot to evolve, gain new features, and become more capable over time.
    • To enable Copilot:
      1. Open Windows Update settings and ensure you’ve downloaded the latest Windows Update.
      2. Enable “Get the latest updates as soon as they’re available” to receive Windows 11 Copilot and other cutting-edge updates.
    • To disable Copilot, right-click your Windows 11 taskbar, go to Taskbar settings, and toggle off the Copilot button.
    • Once enabled, you’ll see a little Copilot icon next to the Search bar on your Windows taskbar1.
  2. Microsoft Copilot for Azure (Preview):
  3. Copilot in Microsoft 365 Applications:
In summary, Copilot aims to simplify tasks, lessen cognitive load, and enhance productivity across various Microsoft platforms. Keep an eye out for further improvements as it continues to evolve! 🚀

You asked someone above in what way copilot was invasive I simply shared my thoughts with you.
Unsure why you're telling me to relax

Or was your original message passive-aggressive towards the other person and when someone provides you with a valid explanation, you then have nothing to say but try to deflect? Like people who say "I was joking" when their attempt at being a smart-ass fail? Or MS fanboy and the slightest negative comment is taken as a personal attack?

Instead of suggesting to relax maybe you should get out a bit more. I was just sharing an innocent thought with you I think you're the one who should relax ;-)

@Sephirote Hey, you said you thought your computer containing sensitive data was compromised, that's why I said to you 'relax'! You seem to be uptight too, generally speaking.

Anyway, your Copilot is an angel!

I disable just about everything. All I want is an OS that will run MY programs.
I honestly don't care about Microsoft's programs.

I like Calculator and Notepad. But that's about it. :-)

I prefer to fly solo on my PC. I don't need a copilot. And besides; the images generated are a bit creepy.
