I found a fix so this is just a post to try and find out why the Music folder won't pin to Quick Access in File Explorer. I noticed today that the Music folder wasn't showing in Quick Access. All of my other User folder show. I tried renaming it, moving it to my desktop and creating a new Music folder. Nothing worked. As a last attempt before asking for help, I created a fnew older and named it My Music and it worked. Does anyone know why a user folder named Music can't be pinned while a user folder My Music can be pinned?

I've never seen this happen so I'll just throw out a couple of possibilities. Does SFC point to anything corrupted? You might also troubleshoot from the perspective of possible corruption in your user account. Make another user and see if Music will pin correctly.

I can see the original folder possible being corrupted. This is what I tried that didn't work. I renamed it, I copied it to the desktop, deleted it and then created a new Music folder. This is what did that worked. Newly created folders with random names. A new music folder I named My Music. My Music is working so I really just like to know why if I use the name Music, it won't pin.

Just speculating but if it works correctly in a new user account, possible registry corruption in hkcu. If same thing happens in a new user account would point to corruption elsewhere and a repair install should correct it. Repair install usually won't fix hkcu.

I'll give it a try later and see what happens. Right now I'm using my other desktop.

@glasskuter, I'm making an ISO of the Insider build 25300. I'm going to try sfc /scannow and see if any problems are found. If it doesn't help, I'll try a repair install.

You might be wasting your time with an iso unless you first prove the problem doesn't lie in your user account. I keep a second test acccount on my PC for proving the direction of just such weird events.

Good point @Edwin. It's been so long since I used libraries, I'd forgotten about them.

If it was, I didn't do it. The only thing I did With it and the Download folder was to move it from drive C: to drive D: . The desktop just rebooted from the repair install and take a guess at what happened. It failed! I'm trying it one more time. It's bad enough that I have to try twice to upgrade to a new build, but a repair install over itself goes way beyond ridiculous.

With all of my music copied over to the My Music folder I deleted the original Music fold and created a new folder. The new Music folder can be pinned. Apparently the problem was with the folder. Before I deleted it I renamed it and tried to make a new folder named Music. I kept getting an error message about the folder already existing and wanted to know if I wanted to combine them. Even though I was wanting to know why and not how to fix, I'm marking this post solved.
