I upgraded the memory on my mom's HP Slim Desktop PF-1013w Desktop, and I have it put back together but now, the wifi icon only has one dot showing it's signal. I noticed a cable that came unplugged from the computer that was left out before putting it back in the computer before I closed it back up. It seems to be operating as normal.

That's a SATA cable. You should probably open the box again and see if there's a disconnected HDD or optical drive (DVD drive). It has nothing to do with your WiFi Icon, but chances are one of your drives is not the only thing that was accidentally disconnected.

One of the pictures shows where it’s inserted into the dvd drive. But I don’t know where the other end goes, hence why I have attached pictures of the inside of the computer. Maybe yall can point me where these connectors or this connector goes.

    Still assembled, still runs. Haven't turned it on for 15 years?
I tried to find a service manual for your machine. HP is usually pretty good about that, but no luck. I did find one possible fix... check to see if the loose wire fits in the slot I pointed to. What I was looking for is a diagram of your motherboard because the two SATA connectors shown are already used. If you can find another connector that fits, that will solve the optical drive problem. This is the kind of problem that usually takes less time to fix when it's in hand than it did to type this message.

I managed to get all of the connectors plugged in properly. However, the WiFi icon still only shows one bar for wifi signal. The computer is right next to the WiFi modem, so there is no way it should only have one bar for WiFi signal.

I opened back up the case because something tells me the Wi-Fi radio is either unplugged or something is not right with the connectors. Attached is the pictures I took from my phone of the motherboard, hard drive, and the DVD drive.

And I figured out why the WiFi wasn't working right. The cord that powers the WLAN has/had come undone. I managed to reconnect it. I just hope it stays once i close it back up.

You are referring to this (is what you fixed), correct? If so, then yes, that was what was wrong with it.

As for that Sara cable, the second end of it may have never been connected to anything. Depends on who all has opened that case.

Yes, definitely missing the second antenna wire that is supposed to be very gently and carefully snapped back on that mini wifi card.

1) your WLAN antenna wire is disconnected, but I see you already got to it.
2) the other end of the SATA cable from your optical drive goes here
3) Is for a second SATA HDD or SSD if you have one. (Replacing a spinner with an M2 SATA SSD is a great way to breathe new life into an old machine)
