That's one one of the reasons I liked Firefox also and Vivaldi also as it doesn't allow ads and has no tracking.Main reason I like firefox is the fact I can still have a menu and it's not "Ad driven" or full of features I don't need. -- or are easily "switched off"
i suppose like everything else using THEIR(Microsofts) player is better than using say Gom player or any other? or does it really not make any difference. I only say this cause you know in their windows code they are trying to block out as many third party things as they can.The new version of media player is coming soon see this to get the download link
Windows 11's modern Media Player is now available for more users
Microsoft recently announced a new Media Player for Windows 11, which replaces Groove Music and is supposed to be the successor to the famous Windows Media Player. The Media Player has been rolling out to testers running Windows 11 Dev Channel, but users reports suggest that the new app is now...www.windowslatest.com
I thought the audio sounded better than the old WMP and Groove Music
No! It's slow and crap!i suppose like everything else using THEIR(Microsofts) player is better than using say Gom player or any other?
I used it this morning by mistake to play a video. What I experienced wasn't half bad... Just saying. No! It's slow and crap!
I suppose it's all relevant to what you're playing and what you want/expect. Pretty much all media players do a good of playing media, it just comes down to features, layout, and file support. Example I loved iTunes until I found it didn't support flac files.I used it this morning by mistake to play a video. What I experienced wasn't half bad... Just saying.
I was just playing a 30-minute video over a Zoom meeting. The spacebar paused and resumed play, and that's all I needed once I launched it into full screen mode. I usually use VLC or PowerDVD for video - PowerDVD exclusively for DVDs.I suppose it's all relevant to what you're playing and what you want/expect. Given these limitations, I can see not using it. Like I said, I didn't mean to use it, but it worked in a pinch. It's not going to be any go-to software of mine, I can tell you that. The new Media Player has basic functionality, which is fine if that's all you need, but...,
it still won't play URL's, won't rip any discs and it's library sorting is a mess!
Can't see media on network shares either, which is where all mine livesThe new Media Player has basic functionality, which is fine if that's all you need, but...,

"a hot mess" just describes an opinion others may not see. That said, I do have to admit I've not tried the new player so....and it's library sorting is a mess!
It's cool they included lossless formats like FLAC and ALAC. This will probably make me want to give it a go once it moves to the RTM version of Windows 11.CD ripping introduced at last.
Cant find a download for version 11.2206.30.0 ( its latest )...............
That's got to be some type of bug (I hope). The Rip cancels if you minimize Media Player to the Taskbar!?
