Hi friends,

Formerly when I connected my smart phone to PC, in “This PC” Window both the phone memory & memory card were displayed in addition to PC's drives, just like a USB flash drive was inserted and displayed.

However, a few days ago I used Advanced System Optimizer to optimize the PC and now I find these two phone drives are lost when I connect the phone to the PC again while the USB drive remains as good as before. Unfortunately I did not make backup before running the ASO.

When the phone memory & memory card are shown in "This PC" Window, it is very convenient to copy & paste files between the PC and the phone.

Woud you have any suggestion for making phone memory & memory card appear again?
Thanks.

Restore the computer to a date before you used the EVIL... Advanced System Optimizer.
And never use the Advanced System Optimizer, again. ^^

Oh... here's ten points for filling out your computer specs. :-)

They haven't invented an Optimizer that actually works. The break computers, all the time. :(

Thank you. So I think you don't like any optimizer like ASO.

Do a System Restore to a time before you used the Optimizer.
Or restore from a backup from the time before you used the Optimizer.

Clean Install Windows 11, and don't use an Optimizer.

Windows > Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Mobile devices.
Allow access > On
Phone Link > On

Manage Devices > Your phone should be listed there:
Switch On what you require, File Explorer is the first one in the list.

You may need to go to other settings e.g.

Network & internet > Advanced network settings > Advanced sharing settings
Network discovery > On.
Set up network connected devices automatically > Tick box.

Maybe something in Privacy & security.

a few days ago I used Advanced System Optimizer to optimize the PC and now I find these two phone drives are lost when I connect the phone to the PC again while the USB drive remains as good as before. Unfortunately I did not make backup before running the ASO.

It is advisable not to install any App like Advanced System Optimizer, it will do nothing good, just adds a pointless "manager". It may override Windows system settings for zero benefit.

You have not said how your phone is connected to your computer and, if it is connected by USB cable, whether or not you have to tell your phone to accept the connection as a charging-only / file transfer / internet connection tethering connection.

It is connected by USB cabel and I choose file transfer. The phone memory and memory card are not shown in “This PC” Window though, the installed Phone Assistant can help handle the data between PC and phone, but no so easy.
Thanks.

I had a similar problem on my Android phone.
My Phone would show up in File Explorer, but my 512GB SD card would be... empty.

I had to enable Developer Options, on the phone.
The IN the Developer Options I had to scroll all the way down to: "Default USB configuration, and in there, choose: "Transferring Files".

Then, if I remember... the next time the USB thingy popped up in the upper left, I had to choose: ...I can't remember :(

Each time I plug my phone into my PC, the phone screen always pops up a prompt for there options: picture transfers, file transfer and charge only. Before I used the Advanced System Optimizer, the phone memory was shown in the File Explorer when the File Transfer was selected. ASO does not seem to be not good enough.
