On a new PC, two Samsung SSD Evo 870 drives don't show in ThisPC.
They also do not show up in Disk Management, even when I scan for drives.
They DO however show up in Device manager under Disk drives.

I think they just need to be formatted, but I can't find a way to do that.

The PC is a Asrock Z690 mobo, Intel i5 12400 CPU, Corsair memory, OS is on a Samsung 1tb 970 Evo Pro m.2 drive.

No, the drives do not show up in bios.
Z690 Extreme
M.2 is 1tb, both ssd's are 1tb, and all three are new.
There are also two 6tb media drives, and an ssd for a backup os drive.
I couldn't see the m.2 drive in bios, either. I ran the windows setup anyway and it worked.

I want to point out a couple of things I've tried.

I just now reset the cmos, and the drive situation hasn't changed, it still shows one 6tb media drive and the os drive in disk management.

I have a StarTech sata/usb cable that I attached the new samsung drives to, and neither one of them show up. The cable does work, as I used it to drag and drop data from the old backup drives.

The drives show as unallocated. In that first screen shot, right clicking at the far left where it says disk 3 and disk 4 should give you the options to initialize it.

Samsung drives are notorious for not being detected in bios or disk management OR BOTH. Bios needs to see them first.

Check for a bios update. That has fixed the not detected in bios problem for a lot of folks. Make sure to check SATA Mode in bios.

Deal with the 2 additional drives one at a time. Install only one to see if bios will see it. If it does install Samsung Magician and initialize the drive.

Check your cables and connections. Try another cable if available. Try a different sata port.

EDIT FOR ABOVE. I see you can see drives now but I'm leaving that here for the next guy who might need the information.

These Samsung reference pages should lead you in the right direction for the rest..

i've already swapped the cables out with new ones I had sitting around, as well as changing sata ports.

I did try the samsung magician, and it tells me it can't make adjustments because the drives need to be initialized first. lmao!

I'd rather not run a bios update just yet, too risky.

I'll look to see what's up with the sata mode, although can that really be set wrong on a new motherboard?

You could check in device manager, the drivers for the disk drives. I'm no expert by the way, but the one time I didn't have a drive showing in bios, it was an optane drive and it needed the correct drivers in device manager. Clearly yours aren't Optane drives as they are Samsung ones but I'd still check the installed drivers.

I just figured out part of this. I need to first click on a drive to select it, only then do the mounting options become available left clicking the drive number.
It's probably been a decade since i've done this, can someone refresh my memory on which option to select?
The options are:
spanned volume
striped volume
mirrored volume
convert to dynamic disk
convert to mbr disk

These drives will be used as backup drives for data.

1. Your second 6 TB drive is missing. Are both of those 6 TB drives in a RAID config?

2. Are you *trying* to use both new drives in a RAID configuration?

Sorry, I forgot you had to click the drives too lol.
