There's different compatibility requirements, it isn't unusual for older versions to be maintained alongside newer ones. If you look at the change log for each version mentioned above, each version of PowerShell is targeting a different version of .NET.

You have a Long-term support version, one that's built off .NET 7.0 and the other off .NET 8.0.
The major version $PSVersionTable.PSVersion.major is still 7.

Yes. Since I installed PowerShell from the Microsoft Store, it has now been automatically updated from 7.4.0 to 7.4.1 without my having to do anything!
