As the image shows there are two desktop files. They contain identical content and both receive current input. They are both on the C: drive. Scroll the image to see the situation. Since they are System files, I'm hesitant to do anything significant to them. Since they are duplicates, I would like to delete one, but I'm worried that it might take the other one with it. I'd be grateful for any ideas on how to deal with this situation.

You do not have multiple Desktop folders.

Your Desktop is, by default, at
C:\Users\%UserName%\Desktop
and you can paste that whole line into File explorer address bar to go straight there.

All the other Desktop entries that are strewn around the place are just disguised shortcuts to your Desktop folder.
That's why you see the same contents whichever one you use.

Do not take any action except, if you want, tidying up what gets displayed - see Add or Remove User Folder in Navigation Pane of File Explorer - ElevenForumTutorials
