What is "most helpful" reviews in Microsoft store?

In MS Store, the reviews sort by default by most helpful. How does a review become most helpful? I can see no way to agree or vote on a review. I tried logging in, then the reviews disappeared and it claimed there weren't any yet! So only logged out users can see them, and nobody can vote on them?

I believe if you are signed in, and click to comment on a review you can vote for that review. Have never signed in to MS on my PC, and so I can't confirm exact choices

I tried signing in and that let me make my own review, but the voting button was missing. Probably zapped by an adkiller. Adverts will be the death of everything. I temporarily had ads in Edge (which I use when Opera doesn't work on a page, no other reason to use that crap) and the home page is littered with 50 ads. FIFTY. News articles sponsored by someone or other. I removed that quicksmart. No use anyway, even if you see something interesting, the tile has slid to something else. Or you spot it just as you're leaving the page, and clicking back shows you different ones. Well to hell with that. Hopefully adblockers will be the death of all newspapers, imagine a utopia with no media.

With Edge it depends how you set it up to your own preferences. This is the home page I set it to.

Pretty much what I did. Remove everything. The default is a mess of distracting news articles funding Microsoft with evil advertising, all linking to dodgy news sites which show you an article nothing to do with the clickbait.

I hardly use Edge anyway because it's rubbish. The interface is unintuitive crap.

I like the default one, it is actually pretty nice. I just have to block ntp.msn.com

I meant other reviews, and the thing you're pointing at, it simply isn't there for me. I'm on a windows desktop, are you on a mobile or something, I get nothing like your image, I see this:

Thumbs up/down are in the Microsoft Store app, not on the web.

To rate the app, click on the star of the number you want to rate it. The stars go from one to five. The thumbs up or down is to rate the review.

The what? You mean they have a program to download programs? Bit convoluted isn't it? I download programs from the web, like everything else. If I want to download VLC media player, I go to the VLC website. If they insist on this weirdness, they could at least put the thumbs up option in both channels.

Ok it's completely broken now. I went here (after googling microsoft store): Windows Apps - Microsoft Store
Then I typed whatsapp into the search. It said "We are sorry, the page you requested cannot be found." on https://www.microsoft.com/en-ww/search/explore?q=whatsapp

Ahhh! They have TWO stores! An apps store and an everything else store, I think I was trying to buy hardware. [rolls eyes]

Why would I do that and be blasted by the ads I see on your screenshot? It's in the browser on their webpage anyway. I'm not going to work around their bugs. I virtually never get stuff from their store whatever that is. As far as I'm concerned, I'm downloading one of fifty billion apps, which could be on 1000s of websites owned by many people. I don't use the play store on my phone either. I do it the easy way, go to website of program, download it. In fact, by using the store, aren't you giving them commission? I'm sure the author of the program has to pay a fee to be included on there. No wonder it's called Microsoft. No.... I wrote M followed by dollar. This site actually converts M then dollar into "Microsoft". Was it a swearword? I guess they bribed the admins.

In reference to your original question:
If you want to see and vote on reviews you need the Store App!

I'm sure they could write the webpage better. I'm sure I can vote and write reviews on the Google Play webpage.

Doesn't concern me much, I don't use Store Apps!
I just see it for what it is!

Neither do I (my desktop is not a mobile phone despite what MS want me to think) but one I was looking for happened to be on there, I found it with a google search. I was looking for a HEIC codec.
