My favourite was Thunderbird but recent updates have killed off (now incompatible) some of the more popular extensions.
I know this is not Mozilla's fault, but one would have expected Mozilla to monitor the popularity of which addons are frequently/constantly installed, and maybe consider those features as built-in user settings options for subsequent releases (altho I do know of one that is now standard). Instead, they're content just to leave it to generous 3rd parties
Going over to (or rather, back to) eMClient, much wider selection of user settings.
