Could be.. force shutting down a PC is risky. You can try a normal shutdown and see what happens. With luck you will not lose the driver.. and if you do you can use 10,, it has 4 more years of support and you don't have this issue with it.

Yes, but sometimes Windows crashes and there's nothing else you can do.

Also, I'm not sure whether this problem will cease in Windows 10 or any other Microsoft OS I might install next.

The only reason I suggest using 10 is because the drivers are available for it and not for 11. And who knows when Lenovo will come out with them for your device. You can do a backup of your current system and install 10 to check out the drivers. If the test fails you can go back to 11.,

Yeah, it might be worth it. Next time it does that to me for no reason, I'm downgrading to Windows 10. ;)

Seeing as we didn't find the root cause (I'm guessing forced shutdown) or the permanent fix,

Temporary solution is this:

1. Go to Device Manager and uninstall all Realtek Audio HD drivers.
2. Shift + Delete the Realtek folder from "C:\Program Files (x86)" directory
3. Download one of these from Intel website: + / + and install it TWICE. Restart after every install until you see this command prompt popup.

That should temporarily fix the issue.

Hi,
Best thing about realtek driver is it's equalizer is easier to get to and save tuning profiles
If it has no equalizer I'd just use media players instead but don't believe it saves more than one tuning profile can't remember.

They're not. The interface looks way different. Check the link to the video I posted in post #73.

Another thought...I see your laptop has a Nvidia GeForce GTX video card. Do you know if the Nvidia HD audio driver in installed? It does cause conflicts with other audio drivers.

Update: Windows 10 didn't fix the issue either. I think something's wrong with the laptop hardware-wise.

I will disassemble it and let you guys know if it was.
