22449.100 will not boot

I posted this in another thread, but it just got lost.

This build just won’t boot for me. Tried 3 times, same thing.
Installs OK from WU, restarts initially OK, gets to 100%, I see the new swirly graphic, then my drive light goes solid on (no flickering) and then, nothing. Just hangs.
A reboot takes me back to previous build. Looking at WU history shows a 0xc1900101 error.
First time I’ve had any issue with updates. Any ideas?

0xc1900101 error is supposedly a 3rd party AV issue, MS recommend removing the AV app completely, you may want to try disabling it and retrying the install. Of course it could be a " bad download "

Thanks, but no 3rd party AV here.
I’ve downloaded and installed 4 times now. Same outcome.

Obvious Question probably, but have you tried running the standard troubleshooters for Hardware Driver problems and Windows Update?

All I can suggest is to report it to MS as it could be something about your hardware that it doesn't like - of course at this stage in the preview of the OS there will likely be another one along in a day or so so a check with that could solve it

Thanks guys. Yes, I’ve run those troubleshooters.
Although there will be another update soon, I’m not sure how it will show for me as the current one nags me to download and I can’t actually do a ‘check for updates‘ because of this.

Have you tried an in-place install rather than an update? this can sometimes solve issues

The only thing is that I can only see 22000.132 on the download page. I am on 22000.168. Surely any install would just get 22449.100 from WU and I'd be back where I started.

Select language for Windows 11 Insider Preview 22449.1000 (rs_prerelease) amd64

Step by step... skip step #8... How anyone can get Windows 11

I had the same problem as you. I used dev.version 22000.160 and tried to update it to 22449.1000. It ended all the time with BSOD in connection with the restart. The solution was that I downloaded the dev.insider preview version 22000.132 which is available on microsoft download page:
windows insider preview iso . You need to log in to access it. I then did a clean installation, reconnected myself to dev. insider channel and was offered version 22449.1000. I downloaded it and this time it succeeded. Unknown why it didn't succeed in the first place. Could have been some bad driver who messed up.

Thanks, but I don't think I can face a clean install. Too much work!
