Adding iPad to PC network

Wife has decided to get an iPad. Up to now she has only ever used an old and very slow Win 10 PC running an old version of Office, and an Android phone and only for common everyday tasks such as web browsing, emailing and printing stuff. She has no tech know-how at all so has to be bailed out whenever there are even minor issues. I've never used an iPad or any other Apple device and as it's me she looks to for help I guess there will be a few issues initially. There will be others here who've been through all of this themselves so any helpful tips would be very welcome.

EDIT - I believe there is an Apple version of Microsoft 365 and guess this could be really helpful.

Yes you can share files but it's clunky . How to Access Windows Shared Folders from iPhone & iPad
I found it was much easier to use one of the cloud providers for files and set up a Plex server on my PC for movies and music.
I don't use my ipad for writing documents but if 365 for ios is installed , yes you can do everything in 365 as easily as you can on a PC as long as your files are synced from your PC to onedrive.

She doesn't save music or movies so OneDrive and 365 should do the job. Thanks for pointing the way. I'll be glad to see the back of that old PC!

Me also. Or I email things to myself.

All newer iPads (& iPhones) will require a MS 356/Office subscription to use the apps on those devices. I can use the free versions on my old iPad 9.7 pro but can’t on my iPhone 14.

Yeah, she has bought 365 along with the iPad. She's just opening it so now the fun starts!
