Audio and video files incorrectly grouped under Video File category in File Explorer

When I select the group by option and choose type, the option works for most files in File Explorer, except for multimedia files. For some strange reason, the audio and video files are grouped in one category titled Video File, when normally the audio and video files are supposed to be grouped in separate categories, one for audio files and the other for videos. How do I fix this and prevent this issue from re-occurring?

You can click on Sort and select Type, that should sort all audio files first followed by the video files depending on their file extensions.

It does not work at all.

Perhaps I should have stated Group by > Type.
It certainly works for me:

Apparently I had opened this issue in the Microsoft support forum for Windows 11 and got a solution for it, so no need. But thanks for trying to help me anyway.

Just as a follow-up, I'm the one that replied on the Microsoft support forum. I suggested sorting or grouping by File Extension.

The screenshot above indicates that both video and audio files are associated with VLC, so there may be some properties where the audio and video files end up grouped together and others where they're not. It might require a bit of trial and error with different properties. You can choose from:

Item type: The file’s type based on file extension. Example: MPEG Layer 3
Type: Usually same as Item type, but may show associated app name in search results.
Perceived type: File category. Examples: Audio, Video
Kind: Similar to Perceived type. Examples: Music, Video
Content type: Essentially Perceived type + Item type. Example: audio/mpeg
File extension: Example: .mp3 (handy for sorting if you don’t need a type field)
