I can see and hear walking canes from Washington state here several thousand miles away, or I would be able to if they were louder than the gasping for air and creaking of joints :p

Still tinkering the registry just to get rid of it. The "undocking" reghack indeed bring back the old context menu and makes me can move or resize Taskbar, but also blocked other newer updates.

Anyone other than me annoyed by the "Show More Options" when you right click an icon on the Desktop or other places.
I'm talking about the basic "Copy, Cut, Paste" and "Delete". Sometimes the SMO is hidden when the item you are clicking is low on the page.
Or is this just me.
Pete
Not just you! It's totally ridiculous, especially when I want to delete something, which is about the only way I use it.

Not just you! It's totally ridiculous, especially when I want to delete something, which is about the only way I use it.
The options are still there. We just need to get use to the new interface. I'm starting to get use to the new way of doing things in Windows 11. I don't know if it's because I'm getting older or not but I decided to try Windows 11 as it is. I hated Windows 8. I kind of liked Windows 8.1. Windows 10 was the OS that made me happy with MS again.

I hardly need the context menu on my desktop at all, Winuser. I don't fill my screen with icons; the only thing I allow there is my trash can. Other than that, I have the occasional icon from an installation, or something I consciously save temporarily to my desktop.

I just figured out a better way to delete those few things, though . . . right click on what I want to delete, then press the Delete key on my keyboard. Gone!

I'm getting use to the options on the top when I right click on a file or folder.

Deleting a file is simple.. just right click on the file/folder and the trash can is on the upper right hand corner.

View attachment 3935
Even simpler... select file and press "Delete"

And guess what, new context menu is trying to be smart.. After deleting a file there's an "Undo delete"

And for copying.. Ctrl+C and Ctrl+V are still working. I never use mouse for that

I am less than bothered by the new context menu. Everything I do on a daily basis is in the first level. Copy, cut, paste, delete. The extra click to get to other options really is so trivial imo.

I'm talking about the context menu on the desktop, Bunny.
But even that - for example on a bat or powershell file I most often right click on it to edit it, but that common choice is now in 'Show more options". That used to be right there at the freaking top of the menu.

The only way this could be an improvement is if you could customize your own context menus based on file type.

Another example - macrium reflect backup file. Most common operations on it are restore and explore image - now on the bloody "show more options"

Otherwise you might as well not call it a context menu if it has no freaking context on it. If I right click on a "context menu" for a file I expect items that are relevant to the file.

Here is a thought - cascading menu that cascades when you hover the pointer on it.
