Ah, no, it won't. Only the most current non-insider version released by Microsoft.

I am going to test the article's veracity. I'm right now making a Reflect image in case there's something wrong, but the link is from Microsoft's site, which states at the top of the page, still, "(Current release: Windows 11 2022 Update l Version 22H2)".

So after the Reflect image is finished I'll run Setup.exe. I followed the instructions from the TechRepublic site and used "Create Windows 11 Installation Media" to download the iso, then I copied the iso to a Desktop folder (the iso wouldn't let me mount it, but copying it was permitted). And I was able to over-write the appraiserres.dll file that is in the Sources folder with a file I made from Notetab Pro, and then ran Setup and it passed the checks for supported hardware, which my laptop is not. I stopped it there so I could then make the Reflect image before I go all the way.

I kinda suspect that once the In-place Upgrade finishes my laptop will still say version 22H2, but I might as well run the Setup.exe and find out for sure. I mean, why would Tech Republic write such an article if the Microsoft download didn't result in version 23H2, right?!?! :oops:

OK, Reflect is finished. I'll report back right after the In-place Upgrade is finished.

I selected NOT to get Windows Updates and drivers but the next screen is titled Getting updates, and "checking for updates. Maybe updates to 23H2??

Then comes "We're getting a few things ready",

then the "Approve the license screen", then "Getting Update" again "This may take a few minutes." And this part is pretty slow . . . I'm on wifi at the moment instead of Ethernet. Si I plugged in an Ethernet cable, maybe that will help.

It finally finished "Getting Updates" and now on to the install 9:05 pm Eastern Time. It usually took about 45 minutes for me to do this upgrade.

What line under the Accounts page? Nowhere is there anything mentioned about me joining Insider... In fact see my post above with the image indicating I'm not in that program. The link I used to get the download tonight was the regular link to get Windows 11, Download Windows 11 (Current release: Windows 11 2022 Update l Version 22H2) The same as on the OP's first post.

See my image in post #10 from the Windows Update page. I'm not in the Insider Program, don't really need to be. I also have the switch in the Off position to get the latest updates as soon as they are available. Weird! So far I don't see any difference as I work with my laptop. ;-)

I am downloading the Win 11 iso from Microsoft. It varies in name from the previous download. No idea if that means it could be or not win 11 23H2.

The current iso is named windows_11_22H2_English_x64v2.iso

The previous iso I have was named windows_11_22H2_English_x64v1.iso

I am going to install it on another PC after the download finishes and report back what version gets installed.
