Games are automatically minimized since the latest Windows 11 update.

This morning Windows 11 was updated, I exactly have the version: 23H2 22631.2715.

Now whenever I play any game, every few minutes randomly the game minimizes, I have tried typical solutions like disabling some windows error reporting services or checking the file system status, nothing has worked, I suspect It is due to the update.

Does it happen to anyone else? How can I solve that?

It has been happening to me as well.

Perfect example - when I start Cyberpunk 2077, the loading screen from CDPR loads, and sometimes it transitions to the full-screen game, and sometimes it is minimized.

But, then, after playing for a random amount of time, the game minimizes to the taskbar.

Sometimes this is accompanied with my system also automatically locking the screen, which is how my monitor's standby is set to work - but other times there is no obvious attempt to lock, and the game is simply minimized to the taskbar.

Glad it is not just me - now we gotta figure out why it is happening.

Me also with GTAV but it’s been happening for a couple of weeks, even before .2715 but more so since. Bloody annoying.
I’m going to set it to run in a window today to see if that changes anything.

Good idea - curious to know if it does or not.

Now that I think about it, this has been happening for a while for me too - I just haven't played anything all that much recently.

Windows take a lot away from the submerging effect of a game. But it would sure beat minimising as you’re up against 25 meth running bikies in a gun battle lol

Or, in my case, fighting for my life in Dogtown. I've had to restart from save more than a couple of times because of this inadvertent (and very, very awfully timed) minimization lol.

Does for me. Twice last night.
Also, this could be anything, but the resolution has dropped on it’s own to 800x600 a few times on its own in the last week. Pretty strange.

Actually, I thought i’d better search for what that is in case I was misunderstanding. I have no idea what that is, sorry

Could be phone link that is causing it for me.

Yeah it may be something else for me also, but I thought if someone said they had phone link, it could be something. We’ll keep looking

I have already found the problem, at least in my case the problem has disappeared by disabling (and stopping) the service "Oculus VR Runtime Service" which is necessary to be able to use Oculus virtual reality headsets, I activated it the same day I updated Windows 11 (damn coincidences haha)

I don't have an Oculus, and don't have anything related to VR here.

Well , I don't have Oculus on mine either but, this notebook is VR ready And, it happened yesterday while
playing Sniper Elite 4 for the first time. Never had this happen before and Yes, very annoying and disturbing
not to mention scared the heck out of me thinking, I broke my new notebook. kept on playing and no other
incidence of it minimizing. So, I restarted the notebook and no other incidence of this weird behavior.
I don't have the latest updates installed yet and no new programs installed but, I will have to see what has happened.

Seems to be a pattern hinting at a recent update.

I just spent 10 minutes on an old racing game... 4x4 EVO.
No problems here, and it is a full screen game.
