Jump List Files

Right clicking on an app in Windows 10 would present a list of recent files and the ability to pin commonly used files. Windows 11 seems to have removed this functionality without providing anything equivalent. This is a feature I use constantly every day and without something equivalent, I don't think I would upgrade to Windows 11 due to efficiency losses. The closest thing that Windows 11 has is the recent items in the start menu, but this is useless because it's everything and not specific to individual apps.

Does anyone know how to enable this in Windows 11 or recommend some kind of equivalent functionality?2021-10-04_9-14-52.png

No, it has not been removed in 11. It's true that it's not available from the pinned app icons on Start, but it's still there for apps in the All apps list and for apps pinned to the Taskbar. Pin your important apps to the Taskbar and their jumplists will be one right-click away.

fully 'Windows 11 ready' laptop. Windows 10 C: partition migrated from my old unsupported 'main machine' then upgraded to 11. Now 11 has been released it has been re-imaged back to 10 and awaits the upgrade to be offered in Windows Update.

Good to know the feature isn't entirely gone. It does look like it's missing some hooks, for example if you open a file from within an app, it does not seem to get added to the list, only if you open the file from the file explorer.

It's also unfortunate that I can't have jump lists for app files without also having to have all recent files show up in the start menu.
