Was very easy and quick. I downloaded win11 install using media creation tool, mounted by clicking ISO file.
Copied all files to folder on desktop.
In sources folder, deleted appraiserres.dll

Ran the setup, told it NOT to check for updates.
It is all working so far.

Found the method in this video

I think these types of threads have been posted so many times
And they are mostly unusable, one I was viewing had over 600 posts, could not understand what they had done at all.
I made sure my thread told people it works for UEFI, secure boot, TMP, CPU not compatible with exact instructions. Sorry but I just had to share how I did it!

That's fine, I see your point about other threads they do get side-tracked to other things, then a few posts of squabbling :) so you don't what is going on. There are several guides of how to upgrade incompatible machines on the forum and so many people have done it or know how to

I was wondering why the video says to copy the folder to the desktop?
Is doing that less geeky as otherwise you need that file deleted in the hidden folder?

So you cannot mount the iso, delete the appraisers.dll file, then install direct from the mounted iso? As they are copied to a hidden folder?

The mounted ISO is treated like a DVD (read-only), so you cannot change that directly. That's why the video suggests to copy all files to a folder. But we are better than that  we delete the file directly from the setup cache (the C:\$Windows.~BT\sources folder). I have done it many times, always worked.

I see, so when does the hidden folder get created?
After you hit setup?
So when the setup screen appears, go to the hidden folder to delete that dll?

When you hit setup you see a window with a progress counter. When it reaches 100% it shows the Setup window, Before doing anything else, delete the file. To avoid Windows Update messing with your drivers, click on the text "Change how..." to reveal a selection and then select No, do not use Windows Update during installation. You can then proceed.

I really get now why the video suggest copying the iso to the desktop. It is going to be simpler for non computery people to accomplish.
I know lots of people who just are not very good with computers and doing anything unusual is a big step, maybe a step too far for them.
Easy enough though for computer OS knowledgeable people

Yes, you must not select update setup files as it will download the dll file and prevent the upgrade

It might not download the file, but it might screw your drivers and produce a BSOD, why risk it? "If it works, don't fix it", as wise people say.

It might not download the file, but it might screw your drivers and produce a BSOD, why risk it? "If it works, don't fix it", as wise people say.
What is that in reference to?
I installed as the video said by copying the mounted iso onto the desktop, and nothing got wrecked.
In the setup dialog, I told it not to update the files, I tried first saying update the files and it restores the appraires.dll file and the upgrade fails.
And there is alway windows update after an install for new 'improved' files.

For relatively new computer Windows Update can find drivers or just leave those already installed. For older systems it might not always find all drivers and get stuck. Or it might install a driver that is not 100% appropriate for the device and produce a BSOD. I would rather not use Windows Update during installation, even for new systems. You can update all drivers afterwards.

You got this running a computer running on traditional BIOS? I didn't think Windows 11 would run on that.

YES, legacy bios, no UEFI, PC is working fine. No TPM either. CPU not supported, it is an AMD B95.
It exhibits no change in speed or anything compared to when it ran win10
Very stable, been perfect. I did have to install the win11 nvidia driver as when walking from sleep it had a small issue, sound not working over HDMI. But ever since the driver upgrade, been perfect.
