We now know the trade in offers that will be available to those with older V8, v7, and v6 one-time licences, and for recently purchased perpetual v8 licences.

  • Continue using Reflect 8 for as long as you want. You will continue to have access to 12 months technical support from the date you bought the licenses.

Macrium may make loyalty offers available at the end of your 3-year term.   • NEW: Trade in (your existing license will be deactivated after your new license is activated) your one-time license (which has one year support from the date of purchase) and receive 50% off the normal annual plan price for life (must turn on auto-renew and not allow the license to expire/lapse).
Home users have 6 months from the launch of Reflect X to decide which option suits them best. Step-by-step instructions to obtain either option from the grace period will be published this week.

For Reflect Home users who purchased V8 before July 1, 2024:
You are eligible for two options. The first option is 50% off Annual plans for life. Option 2 is our “Better than Black Friday 2024 Offer:” 3 years for the price of 2:

If you choose 50% off annual plans for life, you will have to trade in your current Reflect Home V8 license.

If you choose 3 years for the price of 2, you can keep your Reflect Home V8 license. This amount must be paid up front and at the end of the plan, customers may renew based on offers available at the time (or return to your one-time license.)

You should see this if you click the Advanced button of the Rescue Media Builder....

If you do not see the Windows RE option, then it looks like your Windows is missing its WinRE.wim file and Reflect cannot find it.

Creating Rescue Media


This will happen if you have deleted your Recovery partition without first disabling the recovery environment.

The Windows RE image is a file named WinRE.wim. Windows only ever has one copy of this, it's in the recovery partition when enabled, or moved to C:\Windows\System32\Recovery for safe keeping when disabled. It is possible to loose your only copy of WinRE.wim if the recovery partition gets deleted while enabled.

To fix this and be able to re-enable recovery you need to put fresh copies of WinRE.wim and ReAgent.xml into C:\Windows\System32\Recovery. You can get them from the Windows ISO for the version you are running. Mount the ISO and open the install.wim which you'll find in the sources folder using 7-Zip file manager.

    fully 'Windows 11 ready' laptop. Windows 10 C: partition migrated from my old unsupported 'main machine' then upgraded to 11. A test migration ran Insider builds for 2 months. When 11 was released on 5th October 2021 it was re-imaged back to 10 and was offered the upgrade in Windows Update on 20th October. Windows Update offered the 22H2 Feature Update on 20th September 2022. It got the 23H2 Feature Update on 4th November 2023 through Windows Update, 24H2 on 3rd October 2024 through Windows Update by setting the Target Release Version for 24H2, and 25H2 on 30th September 2025 through Windows Update by setting the Target Release Version for 25H2.

    UPDATE - 11 April 2026: due to mechanical deterioration this PC has been retired from active duty. The OS with all software and files has been migrated to my System Seven in 'Other systems' to carry on as my general purpose 'main machine'.

    My SYSTEM SEVEN is a Lenovo Thinkpad T580, Intel Core i7-8650U, 16GB RAM, 512GB NVMe SSD + 2nd 512GB NVMe SSD, a supported device for Windows 11. This is my current general purpose 'main machine'. The installed Windows 11 Home from my System One has been migrated to this machine.

Due to an issue with Macrium creating the rescue environment, I uninstalled the last 3 options in uninstall, namely definitions, logs and PE components, as per their advice and I got the rescue created ok, minus RE.
There's no WIM in C:\Windows\System32\Recovery.

The option is usually located right above the PE11 entry. If you don't have that, you may not have an officially registered Recovery Partition which, I believe, is required for the RE option to be available.

If Reflect cannot find WinRE.wim then you won't be able to use the Windows RE option. It's usually to be found in the Recovery partition, as can be seen here on my system using MiniTool Partition Wizard.

Open Terminal (Admin) and type reagentc /info. If the recovery environment is enabled it should look like this.

If it says 'disabled' then winRE.wim should be in C:\Windows\System32\Recovery. If it's not, then the reagentc /enable command will fail with 'The Windows RE image was not found'.

If so, then you'll have to extract a copy from the Windows ISO and put it there before Reflect can use the Windows RE option, as I described in post #502 above.

Mounting an old Macrium image, I have the same 2 partitions - WinRe and Recovery so it's always been that way.
I'd imagine the one labelled "Recovery" is the LG reset partiton.
...and I can boot into both safe mode and recovery mode as I just tried them, so they work, so maybe not a good idea to mess with them.
Bit confused what to do at this point. Probably reinstall Macrium...
Hang on! I went into Macrium and deleted the boot menu and I have WinRE as an option again!
Maybe a borked install...

Update: I uninstalled MR (forgot to remove license first. gggrrr...) and went back to 8731. Works fine. Reagent shows enabled, partitions all look the same as per above pics. WinRE set as default.
Looks like 8750 has issues...
Learn something every day !

Reflect vX is in Current Support, Reflect v8 is in still in Extended Support until 22nd January 2026.

For the rest it is Self-Service support, which includes getting help on the Macrium Forum. Anyone who has a paid-for licence for v6, v7, v8, or vX should be able to register for the Macrium Forum, who's members include Macrium representatives.

Some thoughts:-

Does Extended Support have any meaning for VX at present as it is the latest version?

I am guessing if we ever get V11 (VXI?), then extended support would kick in for VX?

I was rather assuming VX would just update ad infinitum so long as lease was paid but the support table sort of implies that will not be the caae?

Did you also do the reg add that is further down the post?

reg add "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Macrium" /v "MAC Override" /t REG_SZ /d "XX:XX:XX:XX:XX:XX" /f

Replace the XX's with your MAC address.

    fully 'Windows 11 ready' laptop. Windows 10 C: partition migrated from my old unsupported 'main machine' then upgraded to 11. A test migration ran Insider builds for 2 months. When 11 was released on 5th October 2021 it was re-imaged back to 10 and was offered the upgrade in Windows Update on 20th October. Windows Update offered the 22H2 Feature Update on 20th September 2022. It got the 23H2 Feature Update on 4th November 2023 through Windows Update, 24H2 on 3rd October 2024 through Windows Update by setting the Target Release Version for 24H2, and 25H2 on 30th September 2025 through Windows Update by setting the Target Release Version for 25H2.

    UPDATE - 11 April 2026: due to mechanical deterioration this PC has been retired from active duty. The OS with all software and files has been migrated to my System Seven in 'Other systems' to carry on as my general purpose 'main machine'.
