Solved Looking for a SUMo replacement

The company that distributes SUMo (Software Update Monitor) is closing down at the end of this month, and that means that the SUMo updater will be without its database, and thus useless. I would really like to hear from any member here about any software version monitor they've tried and liked.

Also, you can run the following regularly as well in an administrator terminal as well. winget upgrade --all

I think that only works with installed software, and almost all of my software is "uninstalled" (portables).

Not really recommendation, as i don't use it regularly. More like a reminder to check it from time to time. It's in heavy development stage.

Oh, For crying out loud.

As for software - lol yeah, I have 271 folders in my E:\Programs folder that are all portable, and at least half are unique (the non unique ones are usually Betas and Alphas of regular ones).

I'm trying to find as many of them on GitHub as I can, so I can add them to my watchlist there, but a lot are not on GitHub, and finding updates for the ones that also don't have a self-update feature can be a chore.

One thing I've considered doing is to set up an RSS feed that monitors the pages for each app that is not on GitHub and cannot self-update to that the RSS reader will notify me, but I've never gotten far into looking into this. I'm pretty sure it can be done, though.

Hey, man! How do you find it on Softpedia.com? I've searched there and I come up with nothing like a software watchlist. I used your link to get YOUR watchlist, but it didn't offer anything else.

Yeahbut, almost all of my portables are not on its (short) list. And only Chrome (installed), Malwarebytes Premium (installed), and the two Visual C++ Redistributables (x86 and x64) show up in its scan. SUMo shows me almost everything on my computers.

You have to register and log in to Softpedia site

After you register, there is a small button: Add to Watchlist.
Then in the right top corner there is a hidden watchlist.

Went to Softpedia, registered, and made a watch list. It all worked well, and I'll look forward to getting email notices from their server.

I don't trust these software updaters. They rely too much on version numbers. Each software company has its own system.
I have known them to get confused and recommend an earlier version.
