Solved My First Upgrade to Windows 11 unsupported Laptop from Windows10

I have an old Lenovo Laptop from 2013. It does not meet the requirements for Windows 11.
It has an AMD A10-5750M CPU and no TPU. It was running Windows 10 Pro 22H2 with latest build.
I replaced the appraiserres.dll with a blank version. Uploaded the Windows 11 ISO and did a repair install.
It took a while on this old and slow system but it upgraded to Windows 11 Pro 22H2 Build 22621.525.
I checked MS Store and it updated a lode of apps. I turned off my internet before the upgrade. After getting back online I had new updates.
I am now on Build 22621.1194. So far so good.

Still hunting things but am finding what I want so far.
Now have a reason to check this forum.
UPDATE: Now on Build 22621.1992 and all is well.

Wish I could try it on my old laptop, its 32 bit only. It runs Win 10 22H2 quite well though.

What machine is it? It may be running 32 bit W10, but that doesn't necessarily mean it can't run a 64 bit OS. Only if it has a 32 bit bios would you be stuck. I've been able to run Window 11 on the least appropriate hardware I could find.

If it is second generation AMD 64 or any Intel 64-bit CPU (Pentium 4 6xx series or higher) with at least 2GB RAM, then you can run Windows 11. I have installed it on Intel Pentium 4 645, 2GB RAM, IDE HDD, no UEFI, no TPM 2.0, to Secure Boot, no WDDM 2.0 or higher graphics driver. It might have a little better performance than Windows 10 64-bit, try it. First generation AMD 64 CPUs lack some specific instructions and run up to Windows 7 64-bit or Windows 10 32-bit. They cannot run Windows 8 64-bit or higher.

It has similar specs with my test laptop (see my first system specs). Of course it can run Windows 11. Try it and you will be amazed.

Windows 11 only runs on pcs with UEFI capability. It can be run on Legacy BIOS pcs but you have to go through some extra hurdles.

The 'System Type' line in in System Information is telling you the type of your currently installed Windows OS, not that of the PC's hardware.

I upgraded my old Fujitsu AH531 through Rufus as you can bypass and select the correct bios for your system. Went very well. As my system has no uefi it ran W10 quite poorly and blue screened if ran anything much newer than creators. Imagine my surprise after
1) getting windows 11 to actually run on it.
2) updating to latest version with no BSOD.

The old thing probably runs smoother now than it ever did.

My test laptop came with Windows Vista which reduced performance on purpose to force us upgrade our systems. Back then most of us formatted Vista and installed Windows XP to get maximum performance. Now Microsoft is trying to do a similar thing. Demands some features that only very new systems have to force us upgrades. Thankfully these requirements can be ignored bypassing compatibility check and enjoy Windows 11 in all computers. Like I said in many old computers Windows 11 run faster than 10 64-bit due to better resource management. All drivers from Vista 64-bit up to Windows 10 64-bit can be used in 11, so don't hesitate, so it.

Those darn Microsoft executives conspiring with PC manufacturers like that, reducing performance of Windows intentionally in order to get people to buy new computers fron them! Only on the internet! Only on the internet...

Thankfully there are forums like this explaining how to circumvent their nonsense and enjoy the latest Windows experience on our ageing computers.

Even many Windows 8 drivers could not be used on Windows 10 (and presumably 11), and as for earlier versions of many W7/Vista drivers - no chance.

Virtually all Windows 10 drivers can be used on Windows 11 but in time, this may become less true.

My Windows 7 laptop didn't get on well with W10 and blue screened on anything past creators. But works absolutely fine with Windows 11 and it upgraded to 22H2 no trouble. But do a fresh install. My old laptop never ran so well.

The only Windows 7 drivers known to not install in Windows 8 and later are Intel graphics drivers. They are hardcoded by Intel to install only in Windows 7. Any other Vista 64-bit or higher driver works fine in Windows 10/11

I have a program that I use to Install Windows 7 games. It worked on Windows 8, 8.1,10 and now on W11
I used an older version but here is an updated version of the program.
Windows 7 Games for Windows 11, Windows 10, Windows 8.1, and Windows 8.
