New Win 11 Media Player


This has been an interesting thread, have been using Windows Media Player on my new April '22 Desktop that came with Win10 and after all the updates got upgraded to Win11. It has been ripping Audio CDs since, doing one now. It appears to be exactly the same as on Win10 except for the rounded corners and No, it does not stop when minimized.

There is a way to get any latest Apps.

First go to Microsoft Apps and search for the app you're looking for. In this case Windows Media Player.

Copy the URL to notepad and copy the ID number.

Got this installed 11.2206.30.0 but it failed a CD rip immediately with error 0x80070057 another cd gave no problem. Copy protection or something else? The cd plays fine.

I was already familiar with this method, but it seems that MS have pulled the link for the latest WMP build. Maybe because it will available to everyone via MS Store by the end of this month...??? :unsure:

I don't use WMP because it gives brown specks on my screen and keyboard when I puke. lol :P

Develop a product that you believe in already! And, make it fiercely competitive with the best thing out there, instead of fiddling around with Fisher Price apps!

They even modernized the glyphs on the Legacy WMP! Make up your mind already!!! 🤷‍♂️

Perhaps, initially, it failed to detect your optical drive..., restart the app and re-insert another CD.

Yes, copy the CD-tracks to your PC , you should be able to play them with latest MediaPlayer..............
( at least , I can !)
