Ads are getting out of control! What is the safest free ad blocker for laptop and phone? I already turned off ad personalization and other settings in Google and Edge, and selected opt out of all ads through AdChoices when ads appear but no resolve, actually even more ads. I see several adblocker extensions listed on the Chrome Web Store/Google Play but unsure which one is the safest for free. I did find I can change the DNS on phone to dns.adguard.com and add the Adguard extension to Chrome. Am I now opening up my laptop and phone to hackers and spilling all my data publicly? Has anyone used these blockers? I YouTubed and there are some sketchy blockers.

Ad-Block Plus works pretty well (and it is free), as is Privacy Badger - I use both

I tried. It failed. Some websites lose functionality.

I think rather than cutting "functionality," many sites that depend heavily on ad income nowadays are simply telling the visitor that the ads make their site possible, and asking the visitor to call off the ad blocker. I have Malwarebytes Premium on my machines, and it comes with a Browser Guard extension that lets me turn off the ad-blocking function on a per-site basis. I use that switch fairly often, and it remembers the setting for the site when I return to that site.

I really think we should discontinue this discussion, because it's clearly not welcome here.
