ShareX - How Do I Do That?

@Edwin, Being new to Sharex I've been looking at different options and changing stuff rather Willy Nilly. I would now like to reset Sharex to the defaults. I cannot figure out how to do that. Help!

@Edwin, If you were setting up your own new install of ShareX, what defaults would you change?

Actually, I like to keep it simple...
PrtScn for region capture, and have captures land singularly on the Desktop, sequentially numbered.
I don't really mess around with other features, such as upload destinations, etc.

Most customization is in the markup tools.

I'm usually fairly good with being productive with new apps. With ShareX I'm totally lost. I choose Region Capture, click on it, and I hear the sound of a camera shutter clicking and now I've got a full screen image in ShareX. Whenever I load ShareX, there the image is. I can't figure out what to do with it, how to annotate it, or even if it's saved somewhere. This whole app has me totally confused. I'm thinking about paying the $70 for a license to Snagit but I keep thinking about your saying that ShareX is your number one choice.

A lot of stuff you will discover by accident, if you fool around with it enough!

For example..., right click on the Gabber of the Editor Tools Bar collapses it,

Middle click on the canvas switches from region to full capture...

The captures should be in Pictures/ShareX

When I hit PrtScn, I'm ready to choose/drag a region but, I will annotate it first using the tools on the Bar...,
does the Toolbar not show up for you?

No, the only place I've ever seen that toolbar is on YouTube how to videos that don't work for me. I cannot duplicate YouTube video steps. That's why I asked you how to go to default settings in case that was the problem. I reset to defaults and I still don't know what the heck I'm doing. Something isn't right here.

Tools > Image Editor > Load Image from ClipBoard

I can annotate the image while its in the ClipBoard and then paste it in my Post where I want? Is that how you're doing it?

Pretty much..., ShareX simply freezes your screen/canvas, you markup then hit PrtScn again to capture that.

@Edwin, as for setting Prt Sc as 'capture region' default see what happens if you open, say terminal, here. Try and capture the region of terminal with the browser in the background. Thanks.

Don't think I've ever had a problem with that..., there are some apps and applets that you need to turn mouse focus away from them to capture.
I'll check it out when I get home.

Weirdly it's only if you open terminal as admin... :woozy:

The Terminal window can't have mouse focus...,
Press PrtScn, hover over the window, (the capture crosshairs will lock to the edge of the window), click to capture...
