SSD vs Hard Disk Drives

I know it is possible to turn drives online or off in Disk Management. I also am aware it is not advisible as Windows can get confused.
When I boot up with an SSD, all hard drives are offline.
I was wondering why this is, and if it would be wise to turn them online.

Would also like everyone's opinion of online and offline.
Things to be aware of.
Things never to do, etc.

I am using both Windows 10 & 11

All internal drives should be... "Online"

The only reason to set a disk to Offline...
Setting a disk to Offline is basically a safe method of forcing a dismount if you cannot otherwise safely remove the device.

So, for internal drives, there really is no reason to set it to Offline, unless it's... faulty.
And even then, it's not necessary. Like the chkdsk tool will automatically take the disk offline to run it's scan, etc.
Partitioning tools will do the same.

If chkdsk or partitioning tools, can't take a disk offline, then that's when you might want to do it manually.
But if those tools can't take a disk offline, then you probably have other problems with that disk.

Myth: Taking a disk offline saves power and wear and tear on the disk. <---- Not true.

Those things are handled by Control Panel > Power Options

Unless you have just added a new drive to your system and haven't set it up yet, drives shouldn't be offline. There really isn't anything more to discuss.
