Solved Unable to open blank Notepad

I finally upgraded my desktop to Win11, and so far everything is working well, except for Notepad.

When I launch it to create a new document, it opens a specific pre-existing Notepad document.
I have Notepad pinned to the taskbar, but even when I open it from the Start menu, it opens the same pre-existing one.
I have many pre-existing Notepad docs, but it's same pre-existing one that seems 'stuck'.

Any suggestions on how to fix?

open Notepad directly from Windows folder, then pin it to taskbar

Funny I didn't have to do that on my laptop. But then it came pre-loaded with 11. The desktop was upgraded. Perhaps that's the difference?
