Hello @Don2023 welcome to ElevenForum. :-)

Not really. Updating, well... updates a few files on Windows.
Ofc, that doesn't mean that something can't go wrong. Most of the time an update causes no problems.

You can ofc, make a full backup. I see you only have one drive. If you also don't have an external drive, we can probably use some partitioning software to make another partition on your laptop's drive. A place to store backups.

We'd need to see a screenshot of Disk Management, to be able to tell if that's possible.

To post a screenshot on this forum...

1. Take the screenshot, edit it as desired, save to your desktop as .png or .jpg
2. Left click in your post, where you want to place the screenshot.
3. Click the Attach Files button at lower left, browse to your pic and click Insert.

Still assembled, still runs. Haven't turned it on for 13 years?
Update through settings and so long as you have plenty of space on your drive the installation will work perfectly.

Unfortunately... you have about 720GB of stuff on your C: drive, so we can't shrink it enough to create another partition big enough to hold backups.
You should have enough room to update to 22H2 though.

If it were me, I'd consider something like a 4TB external hard drive, for backups, if nothing else.
It's always better to have a safety net.
Something like this maybe...

Or this...

One of your backups will be about 370GB, and backups are much more useful if you have room to store a few of them.
You could probably even go as small as 2TB, that would hold 5-6 full backups.
