Windows 11 23H2 (OS Build 22631.3296)
I'm still on Win10 22H2, and I know my PC to be Win11-ready. I dismissed the Win11 upgrade offer in Windows Update months ago. Is there a way to get it back?

Please note that I'm aware there are other ways to upgrade (e.g. the Installation Assistant). I'm simply wondering about getting the offer back in WU.

Is there still a place in the Settings, Windows Update for checking if it will run Win11? I still have a choice further down the panel. 10-year-old Dell Precision Desktop Win10 Pro.

If you default to telling me to do a repair install for every single little problem, we're going to have other problems.
Do keep in mind that such action usually rewrites the Registry which may clear up other issues.

Nope, the only reference to Win11 are the "Get ready for Windows 11" links on the right side.

The "Select the target Feature Update version" setting in Group Policy would probably work to upgrade, but I don't think it's quite what I was after.

It's not a big deal, and it's probably bizarre that I even care. I'm hoping the Installation Assistant provides an equivalent upgrade experience and result.

I'm a little confused about what exactly your expecting?

I was just hoping there was an easy way to restore this Win11 offer in Windows Update, after having hidden it by clicking "Stay on Windows 10 for now":

But as I mentioned, this is probably silly and I guess I will simply use the Win11 Installation Assistant.

I would suggest looking under the following registry keys for anything which seems to toggle a banner or upgrade to Windows 11:

Code:
reg query "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\WindowsUpdate" /s
reg query "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\WindowsUpdate" /s

No joy. I tried setting "UpdateDesiredVisibility" under "HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\WindowsUpdate" to 1, and restarted wuauserv, but no dice.

It's not a big deal. I'll just use Installation Assistant. Although at this point it feels like it would be a little victory to figure it out, LOL.

You can still upgrade to Windows 11 whenever you're ready. We will be more than happy to help you when/if you do.

Renaming both SvDismissedState and SvOfferDeclined (to hide them) gives me a "Get ready for Windows 11" banner in WU, so maybe that'll restore it after Windows verifies readiness again. Thanks!

I would click that "Check hardware requirements" link to see if it then offers you Windows 11 again.

Okay, then wait for a day or two and it should hopefully get reoffered to you, otherwise you can always go down the in-place upgrade / installation assistant route and it should update you to Windows 11 without any issues.

Yeah? OK, how? I still don't. Not that I'm waiting for anything but next weekend, when I plan to install one way or the other.

I know how you feel. I'm one of those people who tweaks every little setting, every registry value, every color, every shortcut, etc. and I hate, HATE redoing things. That and no apparent benefit is why I've been holding off. But I figured to hell with it, maybe it'll fix some of the broken stuff that was making me need to do a repair install anyway. And if something goes seriously wrong, that's what image backups are for, right?
