I usually use LibreOffice Writer for creating documents, but I have access to Word if there is a Word-based solution.
I have several .rtf files and want one file to have active links to the other files. But I need these to be relative file links because containing folder is going to be copied onto multiple computers with no access to the original folder. I've succeeded in both Word and LibreOffice to create absolute links but that does me no good.
A web search turned up many instances of this question, a few answers for related software (e.g., Excel), and perhaps a solution for Word (that was too convoluted for me to follow). After looking at the URI file specification, I'm not even sure relative files paths are supported (but that makes no sense to me).
