I suspect that I mistakenly disabled an important service while doing troubleshooting and caused the login to fail. Have tried a restore point from recovery mode but that also failed with an obscure error 😒 can I change login to manual in in UEFI? Other ideas please?
Thanks
Dave

Hello Dave, :alien:

You could try booting into Safe Mode, see if you are able to enable the service again, then boot back into normal mode to hopefully sign in again.

That's ok. You should be able to select the "Command Prompt" option in your screenshot, then use the commands in option 4 below to boot into Safe Mode.

That's ok. You should be able to select the "Command Prompt" option in your screenshot, then use the commands in option 4 below to boot into Safe Mode.

Brink, getting closer maybe... fixed my mistake in the tutorial instructions (thanks to member polysius)

and it completed but on restart we are still stuck at login. (picture attached) if I attempt the set up pin MS points to the "store" to install an app ????? 😒 (another attached image)

Is there a restart that gets me past the login fault and into safe mode? I am presuming that I can then use system config to fix services problem. Glasskuter's workaround might also work?
All of this began with trying to determine by isolation why the latest update KB5033375 will not complete. I confess to being guilty of not being aware of the restore point problem and having an out of date useless system image.

You did not follow option 4 from Brink's tutorial?

In any case "Windows 11" and "windows 11" might not be the same.

It looks like you may have used the "Description" (ex: "Windows 11") instead of the "Identifier" (ex: "{default}") for the "Description".

Looks like you may be at a stuck point.

If you like, you can try to enable the built-in Administrator account at boot using option 5 below.

Next, while signed in to the built-in "Administrator" account. disable passwordless sign-in for Microsoft accounts using option 2 below.

Hopefully, you will now be able to sign in to your account using your password instead of PIN.

Brink, planning options. If we can't get past being "stuck" at not being able to get into safe mode, then would it be possible to do an in-place from the recovery command prompt? I have the iso.

I'm afraid not. A repair install can only be performed from within Windows.

Were you able to enable and sign in to the built-in "Administrator" account?
