They always reset too and it's annoying having to add date modified and then select it again. I use WinSetView which handles things in List format pretty well but I can't do this with specific folders.

Also, another question, I have a Tools folder, with lots of tools, I would like the program icons for them to appear on the folder thumbs. Doing it manually is a pain, but at least it saves across formats if I keep the partitions the same.

any programs that might be able to like, take the icon from the .exe in there and apply the icon to the folder? could that be done with a script?

thanks.
oh and also if anyone has found a way to backup StartAllBack yet lemme know.

You can get both of your requests done pretty easily, but you'd need to change your file manager. Instead of using Windows Explorer, you'd need to use Directory Opus. Saving custom folder settings is a breeze with Opus (either for one folder, or system wide), and setting up a custom command button to change the folder icons is not that difficult, with the help of someone on their fantastic user forum. You'd be amazed at how quickly one or both of the authors of the program answer questions, not to mention the vast experience of the users there.

It's not a free program, in fact the investment amount is a bit steep..... However, the support is the absolute best out there, I know that for a fact. I'm almost 70 now, and I've used Opus since the early 1990's. I kid you not, there's almost nothing that can't be done when you use Opus as a file manager. I'm not a sales rep for the program, just an entirely satisfied long-time user who is passing along my suggestion as a solution to the questions you asked. If you're of a mind to, try the program free for 30 days and see if it fits your needs.

Edit: I forgot you asked about StartAllBack. I don't have a suggestion for that one, but then again I don't use it, so there may very well be a way out there that someone knows of......
