Copilot OFF!

Is there any way to get rid of this annoying feature newly introduced with win11. I really do not like it. Thanks.

A bit more explanation or some screenshots maybe.

Perhaps you mean Copilot [preview], which is shown on the Taskbar

and which can be removed by right-clicking on it and clicking on its entry to remove the tick.

Add or Remove Copilot Button on Taskbar - ElevenForumTutorials
or even disabled
Enable or Disable Windows Copilot - ElevenForumTutorials

So sorry - yes, I meant COPILOT. I have it disabled in APPS. I will look at the tutorial. Also, it does not show up on my taskbar. Perhaps because I have it disabled in APPS. I turned it back on in APPS and it does show up on taskbar but right clk no deal. I will try tutorial. Thanks

Option #2 is the easiest method...





TIP: It's a good idea to keep a folder on a storage drive with a record (texts, pic, patches), of your Windows 11 tweaks.
That way, if you have a problem in the future that one of your tweaks may have caused, it's much easier to troubleshoot if you have a record.



For example, these are my Win 11 tweaks, and my Win 10 tweaks are about twice this size...





A very useful tool for any Windows version is REVO Uninstaller (free). It can uninstall anything and has a tool that "scans for leftovers" as well.

If you want to remove CoPilot, use the registry patch in the official tutorial (Option #2).
Reg patches are usually the best way.
They are fast and easy, and at worst, require a reboot to apply.


And I keep backups too. But I also keep tweak folders with the how-tos for my tweaks.




It's sort of like a... diary?

Dear Diary,
Today I ripped Copilot out of Windows, and this is how I did it.


After the January update, my File Explorer was broken... it wouldn't open, no matter what.
So the troubleshooting started.
Turns out it was caused by a tweak I had done months earlier... I kilt the File Explorer tabs with Vivetool.
So after four, restore from backups, and a bit of guessing and my Tweaks folder...
I figured it out. I undid the no File Explorer tabs tweak, and poof... all was well again.

I guess it's nnot that easy to get rid of - as in Revo - it doesn't show up. I will try the method you gave GHOT - also does it stop when I run an online search? Hopefully that is what this is all about. Thanks.

There are other tutorials for killing the online search, when you're just trying to search your computer.
There's a tutorial for... everything. ^^


This disables online search in Win 10 and Win 11, when you're just searching your computer...





Here's a lot of the most common tweaks, gathered from the tutorials, etc...

I did the reg option. I don't see it in my Apps folder anymore. Will try the online search disable. BUT - I still want to search but without the accompaniment of the copilot... Seems obvious that I could still search but there are so many layers to the web world anymore.

That search tweak will only affect the Taskbar search box.
Searching in your browser, will still give online results.

Trust me. You should have seen me when I first hit Windows 10. LOL
I was like... "Who the h*ll broke Windows?"


Ofc, after Windows 10, we all "knew" who broke Windows.

Us: Microsoft, how come you broke Windows?

I just turned it off in settings Settings - Personalisation - scroll down to taskbar - untick Co pilot preview

That's what I ended up doing as well.

Question re: Revo uninstaller. When you indicate you want to remove either an app of a program, does it give you a warning - like not a good idea? -- Thanks....

I haven't used it for a few years but found it slightly complicated the odd time - I think I did get something wrong on one occasion!
