Hello there. This is the second time I get this error in about one or one and a half months. It happens after I hit the power button. The laptop is already powered off when I press the button - or maybe I really don't remember closing the lid and it previously going to sleep and hibernation. I would say there are 90% chances my memory is correct that the laptop is already powered off when I press the power button. What I do after I receive the error is that I press the power button again, the laptop powers off, and then I power it on again and it goes straight into Windows without showing the error again.

Should I be worried about this error? I also ran sfc /scannow and it repaired the file C:\Windows\System32\drivers\bthmodem.sys

I attach a photo of this error and a Log Collection using V2 Log Collector.
I bought this laptop in December 2022.

Thank you for any help.

For me it works just fine now to download the zip file from my post... Can you please check again? And why do I need to run the V2 log collector again?

The error happened to me today again. I am 100% sure the laptop was not in sleep mode or hibernation, it was powered off.

In the meantime, I disabled the hibernation on my laptop after receiving advice on this problem on another forum. This is the info I got: "The Fast Start option in Windows causes the kernel to be hibernated when you shutdown. On a cold boot the kernel is then read from the hibernation file."

On another note, does anyone know why do I have sooo many events in my System event logs from UserModePowerService? Only now I noticed. Like, a new event from that source is generated every few seconds... There are tens of thousands of these events!

I cannot edit my post, so please ignore the UserModePowerService question I had. I posted a new thread for that.

1) Please make free or pay backup images and save the images to another disk drive or the cloud.

(Acroni, Aoemi, EaseUS, Macrium, Paragon, etc.)

2) Make a new restore point

3) Read this link on Windows Driver Verifier (WDV)

Learn the methods to recover from using the tool by booting into safe mode and running one or more of these commands

verifier /reset

verifier /bootmode resetonbootfail

4) Find a flash drive that you can format (> or = 8 GB)

I'm sorry, but I don't feel at all comfortable to run Driver Verifier. According to what I researched, for example this link: Why You Shouldn't Use the Driver Verifier in Windows 10 , it is dangerous to run it and it is mostly for developers. Also on the Microsoft website: Driver Verifier - Windows drivers , it says "Running Driver Verifier could cause the computer to crash."
I am not going to take the job of a developer and try and find solutions for products that I payed for: Microsoft Windows and the laptop itself! Are there really no Microsoft employees on this forum? I will try contacting Microsoft support, if it is possible.

Hello folks, I want to let you know about an update to my situation. I reinstalled Windows and the problem still appeared. Then I used the diagnostics tools to check my SSD, RAM etc., and they all came out ok.

So, the last thing I did was this: I removed the USB Ethernet Adapter that I was using all the time to connect to the internet. After removing it, I turned hibernation off and then on again, so that the hiberfil.sys file got renewed. I've started using only WiFi. It's been almost three weeks now, and I haven't got the error again. So most likely the adapter was the culprit. The model of the adapter is TP-Link UE300. Before removing it completely, I tried to see if installing the driver from their official webpage would fix the problem. They say that generally Windows automatically recognizes the adapter, it was not specifically stated that installing the driver from the official page is mandatory. But they do say that if we encounter problems, to install their driver. So, the driver Windows automatically installed is from 26.09.2015, version 10.38.117.2020, and the driver I installed from the TP-Link website is from 15.08.2022. But even after I did this, the hiberfil.sys problem still happened. Now I'm thinking that maybe I should have recreated the hiberfil file after updating the driver, to see if it worked like this...

The main reason why I wanted to avoid WiFi is the bad effects it may have on health. But that's a different story.

Maybe these explanations will help others facing the same problem.
