Windows 11
Hi there,

Recently I uninstalled Edge in Windows 11 22621.2715 by, I suspect, a method that will not suit me, but I found it to work.

Firstly we need to go into safe mode, and for me, the easiest is to type "msconfig" in the run box and then under boot tick the safe mode and restart Windows into safe mode. Edge is found in the C:\programData folder which you gain access via ( well I do) the Control Panel and turn hidden folders on. Now, here I use a utility that seems to be all over the place, namely a small reg file called "take ownership". you can find it easily by just typing take ownership in any browser, and it will come up. Once installed right-click the main Edge folder and take ownership; only takes a second or two and then when finished, simply delete the Edge folder. It worked for me guys ! Then use msconfig again and boot back into "normal" windows ( non Safe mode) I then used I guess a " dinosaur" utility called Regseeker; it can be found at

There is the latest and then you can access if you wish older versions; me I prefer for no particular reason version 2.55. BE Careful, as if you click too quickly you will get another browser ( usual rubbish) offered, and you do not want that ! Then in the registry section in the search box type Edge and click Search. It will come back with a humungous load of entries well over 200. so being a wise old boy(73 years old now) I created a restore point in Windows and held breath and deleted all the entries and restarted and yeah it went fine. Now I fully appreciate that this may not please anyone at all but as this is a forum where you hand your ideas out to be liked or savaged (!!), please read and decide and make your own choice guys. Edge has never come back at all.
