How to Geek (howtogeek.com)

I have subscribed to How-To Geek - We Explain Technology for years. I continue to get near-daily an email from them (of course, no reply) containing separate stories in the form of Internet links.

For the last two months I have not been able to open any of those links.

Each different browser has their own way of saying the link doesn't work, e.g.,

Has anyone encountered this problem?

Does HowToGeek still exist? Has it moved?

Check your browser extensions. Disable and enable one at a time and check the links.

I have received a similar error message, about not being able to establish a secure connection, with other sites recently. But after a few tries, the site comes up just fine. I use Chrome and thought it might be something with the latest update.

I can get to the HowToGeek.com site just fine, and it displays the whole front page. But then it covers it up with a complaint about my ad blockers (I have two of them) and wants me to disable them. However, I never disable my ad blockers. I can always find the information I need somewhere else. When Google suggests that site, I just skip it.

This is the reason I prefer DNS over adblockers, ads are not blocked, they just can not load. I do not mind empty spaces.

(Porthos: As Requested) I forwarded the HowToGeek daily mail from my computer to this one, opened it up, and clicked on the link to one of its stories. That link, and all links in emails from HowToGeek (to my 5 browsers on the other machine) looks this way. (Unbeknownst to me, when I just downloaded Opera, it decided to become my default browser.)
