Since the problem you have been experiencing is that Windows 11 doesn't seem to remember your settings, I would suggest the following. In the tutorial below, Option One, Step 4 ➔ G) Verify that Other Windows settings is still checked.

@TraderGary - Interesting they didn't remove all the traces though after all this time. I never knew Microsoft released their source code for anythng.

I used Sysinternals Process Explorer and looked at OneDrive.exe > Properties > Strings.

Yeah, setting up your own private cloud does have a few key advantages for sure. Up until a few years ago the specific type of wireless routers that have this feature either were too expensive for most or were severely lacking performance when it comes to their USB3 port (or both) so, the only other available option (besides running your own server) was to buy expensive NAS.

With a USB3 hub plugged into each USB3 port on my Asus RT-AX92U 2-Pack WiFi mesh system (2-Pack = it consists of two identical RT-AX92U routers; each router has one USB3 port on it) it is possible to use it as a cheap NAS replacement with the AiCloud 2.0 feature offering decent enough storage transfer performane to be able to call it that. Decent enough = it won't perform miracles of course, but isn't too shabby to still be useful for a lot of things, and, it's cheap also because, IME anyway, if using the wired backhaul option the WiFi 6 part of the story actually is better than great with this particular mesh setup from Asus.

Early reviews of it were negative mostly because the firmware was still rather bad back then, and the price tag was (much) too heavy also in addition to this. But then, the firmware finally got fixed by Asus, and the price came down a lot so, before the summer of 2021 had ended I was able to grab the 2-Pack at just 279 Euros inc free shipping as another bonus from Asus. AFAIK routers from Synology were still limited to WiFi 5 around the time so, I caved, and, I haven't regretted my decision so far.

I have an ASUS mesh setup at my place using my old ASUS modems. I’d utilise the USB ports for a cloud setup, if it worked. Never works for me. I’ve taken advice and followed every tutorial I could get my hands on, still.
I am hoping when I finally install Eleven without Ten being its backbone, it will work.

You are right as there are over 170 with the word sky in it in System Informer formerly Process Hacker...

Not a chance I’m going there I’d sooner stick knitting needles in my eyes.

That is exactly why I use everything and not taking any sides as everything has it's good sides and bad sides. Even with the outlook for photos for example, I use SnagIt and it defaults to saving everything to One Drive which is actually a SnagIt issue and while one can move the folder to a new location using SnagIt, it forgot the recent history even though the Snagit verson was out for months, I didn't do the move to the internal non onedrive folder until later and ofcourse while the entire library of images moved, the recents was blanked and a few days later, so if I waited a few days, I wouldn't have lost the Recent captures tray:

I have iOBit blocked in my host file and for the life of me can’t remember why? I usually leave notes. I think it was spying or something.

I don't block them - I just avoid them. I won't install anything by them. Personal choice - because of what they did back in the day with with their antimalware program and stealing from Malwarebytes.
