Just wondering is there a need for WIM stuff - I mean DISM is a bit crap and there is no decent GUI .. so let me know (it started as a tech thing for interface development but could be expanded for broader use - Don't worry about the transparency stuff that was a last minute thing which is not necessary)

Any plan to include the feature in the GUI to convert WIM <--> ESD? I'd sure appreciate it, but not a big deal if not.

I'm using ESD exclusively now when building .ISOs from UUPDUMP....

I will be using the Dism API and other native API's like Virtual Disk .. (yep the horrible unmanaged C++ stuff.. but nothing in .Net ..so)

I just need to map the functions that are most needed - in a simple way

A few ideas:

1) ability to inject drivers into boot.wim and install.wim

2) create custom images

3) check SKUs in a wim

I have a batch file that takes a downloaded iso, injects drivers, and the creates a custom iso. When I get a moment, I will add it here for your perusal.

Sergey and I had a 'run-in' in the early TF days - not that I don't appreciate his work - but he bad-mouthed my apps on his site - so won't be following any WinAero fluffy stuff .. LOL - but thanx anyway

Not suggesting you do. That was just the easiest example I had of a GUI with explanations.

All good bud... just an insight.

Another insight .. When developing SMACC, I knew absolutely nothing about themes, accent colours etc - but thanx to @Cliff S and others I could include the knowledge I gained from it into ShowKeyPlus (which is arguably one of the most modern apps out there right now)

Similarly, I need to harness your knowledge to provide a broader app that is distinct to our needs...

Hmmm.

I bet you've already done this, but pretty much any tutorial at 10F that makes use of DISM will probably worth looking at to see if the scope of said tut is worth including, no?

The injection of drivers and apps would be stupendous.

Additionally, I think @Kari @Brink @Bree and @hsehestedt would have some ideas as well, so I'm tagging them. I know there are others, but these few come to mind, since Ghot and cereberus are already here.....

Yup, it's not about re-inventing the wheel.. I just think Dism.exe is crap.. eg. the progress inconsistency is something MS should have fixed yonks ago...but I'll wait and see ...

a usable, versatile GUI for DISM can only be a good thing. I'd definitely use it for modifying my UUPDUMP generated .ISOs, at the very least for direct driver injection from both of my main machines.

Yeah, no, I wasn't asking for a UUPDUMP replacement - I said I'd use this app that you're planning to modify the .ISOs I am building via UUPDUMP.

I've seen a few of your other apps - but I don't recall the one above. Ah, well. I missed out back then - another reason to watch this thread so I don't miss out again.

I know... was just reminiscing...

You didn't miss out much - that was more an implementation of .Net managed ESD decryption (others at the time was C++) not an issue now obviously so -- relegated to the archives - LOL
