Intel UHD graphics

I did a clean install yesterday and I've done a few of them every few months; I like a fresh Os every once in a while but this time Windows installed the Intel UHD graphics driver. I have 4090 Laptop gpu installed from the factory. Now when I run a benchmark like Time spy my fps take a substantial drop. If I uninstall the Intel driver my benchmarks won't even load. Is there any way to stop Windows from installing that driver during setup or any version of W11 that won't do that. Appreciate your help. Thank you.

You should have both Intel and nVidia drivers installed.

I've never owned a laptop with Optimus tech, so I'm a little weak on the details.

Most people here choose to manage their own drivers rather than let windows update do any updates on them. You can use this tutorial. Since you have pro, I advise to use group policy. The regedit file works for Home and Pro.

You need both drivers installed in order to use the various graphics modes.
These graphics modes are controlled by the MSI Centre.
basically 3 modes, the first two require Intel UHD drivers.

1. Integrated graphics (Intel UHD).
2. Hybrid (Optimus).
3. Discrete graphics (Nvidia).

By not installing the Intel UHD drivers problems will occur*, you won't improve the performance for mode 3.
Very broadly speaking there is only around a ~10% loss in performance going from Discrete Graphics > Hybrid.

Firmware/Driver/related Software updates should be done from the MSI updater, Microsoft updates, and MS Store.

I have a Laptop with very similar hardware, different brand, and that is unlikely with both graphics drivers installed. On mine it is very broadly that 10% in Hybrid mode and I use that same test.

* The benchmark will detect drivers for both graphics, probably not loading because you removed the Intel driver it expects, and maybe you are in Mode 2. Hybrid (Optimus). Check the manual of the MSI centre.

Thank you so much Helmut. In the General Settings in MSI Center I had it in #2 mode. You solved my problem!
